Ravens LB Arthur Brown on the block

Ah the Dion Jordan trade talk...if only contracts weren't a thing and it were possible.
Thank you. Im pretty sure if we trade Jordan we are just eating something ridiculous like 13 mil. Its not happening….at least not this year.

As for Arthur Jones, he would be an ideal fit as WLB. He can run and cover…good scheme fit for Coyle as well.

I would be more than OK with Dion Jordan at SAM, Misi at MIKE, and Arthur Brown at WILL. When they get in nickel pull Misi off the field. Brown can be the dime backer and let Jordan rush in dime packages.

Have Dion Jordan in the 250-255 range. And let him play SAM in a 4-3 (where I evaluated him as a prospect) let him carry tight ends up the seam. He can even play as a nickel backer (played in the slot at Oregon). He also brings added versatility as a rusher in subpackages. He can be a quality starter as a SAM backer in a 4-3, but trying to make him a 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB is trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

i agree with the weight but i think his best slot is a 34 olb in a 2 point stance...where the hips and cod would show and he'd have 5 tech help on the inside to allow him to flow laterally more and stack and shed and limit the poa deficiencies...sam in a 43 i would say would be the 2nd best option...for us it was always situational pass rusher type stuff with no polish

especially when we already had a solid sam in misi for 2 downs...

you put him at olb in phillys system i think you get the real bang for your buck...i didnt have him on my board for us cause the college tape screamed 34 olb to me

why do the ravens need rb help though??? they got 2 capable backs still...i doubt that would interest them

Yeah, don't do it Ravens.

Trying to pick up Justin Forsett on my fantasy league.

:chuckle:

Seriously though, can he be a starter in the NFL? If yes, pull the trigger, if no? Then why bother.

We already have a team loaded with backup LB's that we all hope will shine.

Plus, who are we trading? Miller? Leaving our RB position paper thin. :idk:

oh i know...he got off the ball well in college but for what i saw i didnt see a difference making pass rusher in the pros...but he's definitely miscast as a 34 olb...that was a 43 de 2 down type guy...he was a pass rusher and i said as much who as the snap progressed you lost interest in what he had...got off the ball well but after that it just became run of the mill

His get off was predicated off of snap anticipation and reaction than explosion. I thought he was a 3rd/4th round guy coming out. He lost weight from his JR to SR year. I thought he should have played as a big 4-3 LE and kicked inside or even as a 3-4 5 tech.

oh i agree he wasnt on my board...i think 43 le was ideal didnt much like his game for a 5 tech

I didn't have him on the board for us cause the college tape screamed overhyped bust...but he's here now and I hope he gets it together. If he doesn't though I like what I've seen from Fede and McCain who basically cost us nothing.

He can also play as a 9 technique at times as a 4-3 SAM just like you mentioned, 2 pt on the LOS with a 5 technique protecting him some. I just really like his coverage potential, the hip fluidity, COD, and length combination is RARE. Could be a great solution to these enormous athletic power forwards... I mean tight ends in the NFL now. It's becoming basketball on grass, and Dion looks like a power forward himself.

that's interesting for sure but it wouldnt work at jordan current weight...he is not close to the same athlete in space laterally explosion you name it...drop the weight and try him at lb NEXT year..or trade him in the offseason although you will sell low

I believe he was close to 280 as a junior. If he would get up to 290 I thought he could play there. But best as a 2 down LE and interior sub package rusher.

I didn't get to see as much pre-season as I liked this year. Was he carrying the extra weight that bad?

the issue i have is you don't draft a guy in the top 5 or 10 even to play a pass rushing position if his best quality is not pass rush...jordan was a jack of all trades in college but his rawest asset was the freaking pass rush...no rush arsenal slow as heck off the dang ball (which still hasnt been coached up for some reason)

i agree that kids gifts are rediculous hell he moved like a 1st round pick db in lb drills hip fluidity wise and feet and acceleration etc at the combine right now he's carrying bad weight and a shadow of his former self...we lost the top 5 pick athlete

yes he's carrying that weight poorly...get a look at some of his drop coverage work...best thing he can do is drop some damn weight over this month off...get the athlete back...

I thought he was a legitimate 1st round prospect because of the 3 down LB abilities. Definitely not top 5. I don't think you can improve get off much. It's all about how you anticipate and react to the ball. And as athletic as he is/was he's never had great explosion.. 10'2" BJ, 32.5 VJ.. those are the 2 biggest athletic tests for pass rushers. I haven't seen him with the extra weight but it sounds like he isn't carrying it well... at all...

I don't see any reason why Hickey doesn't pick up the phone and at least give Ozzie a shout.. One man's trash is another man's treasure. He's a long term fit at WILL and a former 2nd round pick. I said conditional 4th but I would even do a conditional 3.

well at least have him sleep with the ball on a stick for the next month...i dont care if he's in his living room have his mom simulate the snap over and over so he can work on how quickly he comes off the ball...do something
