Ray Farmer: Kansas City Chiefs FA classes 2006-2012

 like that matters AT ALL...tebows not even in the damn league

It matters because either:

A) Tebow > Cutler

or

B) The team around Tebow has to be damn good to win a playoff game with a garbage QB

No matter which option you choose you have to give the GM some credit.

wow that's ass backwards roy...

Josh McDaniels yielded around a big ax in Denver. I always thought he was behind those deals.

a head coach that doesnt have to get the gms blessing to trade players especially one as new to the position as mcdaniels seems f'd up to me...no doubt in my mind someone above him signed off on it...

of course they let mcdaniels hang himself with the moves...which he did promptly after that year as i recall...

That Denver team that beat Pittsburgh with Tebow had talent on Defense and a good oline. Xander found good WR's. Lloyd, Thomas and Decker and they still had enough cap room to sign Peyton Manning and Wes Welker. Thats a good job managing your roster. They have arguably the best LT, possibly the best pass rusher, and now the best QB. And they had Dumerville up until last season. Denver has been loaded with talent even before Manning. There's a very good reason Peyton went there and not here.

John Fox is a little better coach than Joe. Plus, Denver had an OC that adapted to that talent. Who was that guy?

That list makes an excellent case for Xander.

McDaniels had final say in Denver, not Xanders. And both of them reported to Bowlen, not to each other. And for what it's worth it's pretty well known that McDaniels and Cutler hated each other and it was McDaniels who engineered that deal. Same story with Brandon Marshall, who McDaniels couldn't work with and Marshall was making a huge ass of himself at practice punting footballs and so on. He was even the one who engineered the Peyton Hillis deal because Hillis had hit on his wife at a party or some much.

Not to excuse Xanders for his role in these things, but at the same time he got a lot for Marshall, Cutler and even Hillis given that everyone knew that McDaniels had ordered them to be traded.

xanders traded jay cutler and b marsh for garbage...and signed kyle orton to stupid money...wtfs wrong with this team

there's no way he could ever explain that one to me and me green light him

Cutler will never raise a Lombardi trophy. Hes proven that. If he will never achieve that level of success, why should they have wasted the time? That same sentiment also extends to the Bears and their idiotic contract extension.

For all his physical gifts, Cutler is who he is: a midget maturity wise who makes more mistakes then he does jaw dropping throws. I watched almost every game Cutler played in Denver, they werent going to miss him. While im sure McDaniels/Xanders were as impressed as everyone else has been of his potential, they clearly had the assumption that he would never step up. And he hasnt. To the victor goes the spoils, they got that one right. Now how they spent those draft picks...well, that i cant defend.

And i'll concede Marshall. Despite getting a fine player as a replacement in Thomas, im never in favor of buying high(for his replacement) and selling low. Though that transaction wasnt nearly as bad as some of the ones Ireland made(which is not to say you were suggesting that, just a general point).

Didn't McDaniels want Matt Cassell?
