info from the other board I got this from:
"Rumor has it that the Raiders and the Ravens are talking a trade that would send Ray Lewis to Oakland and Charles Woodson would head to Baltimore. It's just a rumor but, it does have some legs. Ray has not spoken to the Baltimore media since before the end of the season. He went to Miami to have hamstring surgery and told the club he was on bed rest and could not travel to the monday night game against Green Bay. A day later he was on the sidelines of the Clemson bowl game in Orlando. Ray made it clear that he no longer wants to be the face of the Ravens and in all likelyhood will ask to be traded.

This rumor has legs because it is also rumored that Chris McAlister is on his way out of Baltimore. He apparently has some kind of off the field problem (partying, drinking, etc...) and the front office has had enough of his act. The rumor around here is he may be headed to Minnesota for Culpepper. So Woodson would replace McAlister.

Just to give the Ray trade a little more legs. Apparently the Ravens staff has been chatting up D'Qwell Jackson pretty hard at the Senior Bowl this week."

I say this will never happen.

Woodson is no where near the class of Ray Lewis for a defensive player. He is far overated and overpaid. Any team that would take Woodson would be doing the Raiders a favor.

McAllister to Minnesota just doesn't make sense. Minnesota already has Fred Smoot, Antoine Winfield, Brian Williams isn't that bad either. They are all young and there would be no point in dumping even more salary into a secondary that is already the strongest point of the team.

dont do it ray.that would be a disgrace.the whole state of maryland would be on a riot if ray left

Actually, the local sports news was broadcasting from the Super Bowl and Ray Ray walked by them, they asked him for a short interview and he ignored them and blew them off.

Ray Ray has been MIA around this area since about week 13/14 if the regular season.

Lewis is over the hill and on the downside of his career. He is all hype at this point in his career. Living off his reputation.

Not a bad player, but not nearly what he once was

Woodson would have to be franchised again for this to happen anyways, he is a free agent.

Yep, so this classifies this trade rumor as BS.

Just like Charles Woodson's NFL career except he lived off the hype from college. I loved him in college but he was never great in the NFL, just a good CB that got way too much credit.

Could someone please explain to why the Ravens would trade Ray Lewis for Charles Woodson when they already have Chris McAllister (unless of course they let him go) and Samari Rolle?

Because McAlister's overrated arse is on his way out too. Baltimore is not happy with his play & contract & Ray Ray's whining about getting a new contract. But this rumor is BS anyway.

Woow What an upgrade to the D if Lewis goes there

Ray Lewis is an upgrade on every NFL team. He's a monster athlete and aside from being a monster athlete, he strikes fear into the hearts of his opponents which not many people can do to other grown men!

Of course Ray Lewis would make the Raiders defense even better, but I don't really think that the Ravens would give him up for a Corner. IMO, the only way that the Ravens would trade Lewis is if they can get a high draft pick or get a QB.
