Cowboys 'very interested' in Ray Lewis?

Word around the NFL is that the Dallas Cowboys are very interested in obtaining Baltimore Ravens inside linebacker Ray Lewis if he becomes a free agent. The speculation is that the Cowboys are willing to give Lewis a three-year deal worth between $27 and $30 million, with $25 million guaranteed. Dallas owner Jerry Jones believes his team is in the serious hunt for a Super Bowl title next season, and that Lewis could help solve some of the team's problems inside the locker room

Dallas seems a bit overly keen on throwing money at a big name. I'm not saying Lewis is done or that he can't contribute to a team. When I saw him play this past season, he played well but he's not the player he once was and will command an enormous salary. If it is for solving 'problems inside the locker room' shouldn't a good coach be doing that (or stopping them from becoming problems in the first place)?

The Cowboys lack intensity and thats a big reason why they cant win a big game. I think Lewis could really help them out in that area. But 3 years at 27-30 million? Ehh.

But I think the bigger problem is Jerry Jones constantly taking power away from his Head Coach by being such a presence in that locker room. I mean who cares what Phillips says if you know you can just go over his head?

That is a HUGe contract, especially the guaranteed # for 3 years . . . 25 million? Dayum!!

People should read Ray Lewis comments regarding the year the Raverns spent as a 3-4 team.

He hated it. Paraphasing, "I'm not a RB".

That would cement Ray Lewis as being a superior LB than Zach Thomas... (Which I don't like...)... Cowboys going to spend big money on Ray Lewis to replace Zach Thomas.

Will not happen for the same reason Zach Thomas is leaving Dallas, they are both true MLB's who play in a 4-3 scheme.

According to Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware, Lewis said it's his "dream" to play in Dallas and repeatedly expressed his desire to sign there.

"When we played Ray Lewis and Baltimore at the end of the season, he came over and pointed to my helmet. He said: 'I want to wear this star on my helmet. That's my dream ... that's my dream,'" Ware told the Cowboys' official Web site. "When we got to the Pro Bowl, he did it again. He came at me every day. He's trying to get down where the star is. He told me he needed me to get him [owner] Jerry Jones' phone number for him. I just busted out laughing."

God I hope he really does not go there. I'm not a big Lewis fan, but I really would hate to see him go there to finish his career. I'm not big on the Ravens, but I would rathersee them give him a deal to keep him there until the end.

I think Miami should check into Ray Lewis this weekend, if no one has signed him.

How would it prove that? Thomas didn't age as well because of injuries while Lewis has more left in his tank after a very healthy career. It doesn't say anything about their comparative careers.
