Ray Lucas

He beat us when he played against us, and he beat us when he played for us...... He was a real Dolphin killer.............

Know what's the best part? He played better than Fiedler did for four games in his stint. He just really killed us against Buffalo and G.B. that year.

He had a 94 rating in his last 4 games until he was knocked out in Buffalo.

Even with the GB game he was a reasonable 75 rating. If you really start to think about it other than the Buffalo game Lucas did better than stupid Fiedler.

It was not his fault.I dont think he played QB in college.Parcells only made him one for situational plays a fact that escaped Wanny and Ricks notice.

ah yes, who can ever forget the guy that hadn't played QB in college, was made into a "slash" player, and Wanny makes him into our backup QB.

And Jaj, his stats might have looked good, but I remember watching every game he started that year (main one being the Jets' game) and wondering why we had him in there. I never thought I'd say this, but I think Jay could have led us to wins in a couple of those games. (BTW does anybody else find it weird that since 2002 we've had Jay,Ray, and AJ as our QBs?)

Ya that is a bit strange. The one thing that made me wonder about Jay was that damn pass he missed to McKnight really badly wide open to clinch that Pats game.

Even in the games when Lucas wasn't throwing an incredible amount of picks, he wasn't moving the ball. I remember the stats I saw of RW's running, and minus the 2nd Buffalo game, he averaged around 35 yards a game. That shows how innefective our offense was, because they were geared 100 percent towards stopping Ricky and Lucas could not get it done. Evne though he limited his mistakes somewhat (nowhere to go but up after that first game), he didn't do much positive either.

No I agree that's true, however Fiedler wasn't much differente except for that hot streak the first five games of the year.

I would rather have Jay Fiedler for 4 1/2 more years than to ever have Ray Lucas's name ever mentioned again.

wasn't that the year Chambers got rocked by Kennedy and got the concussion? If so, that left us a recieving corp of McNugget, Chris Carter(who joined us mid season), and I don't even remember who else (Gadz was gone, DT came the next year...if you think of anybody just say the name).

I do remember that that was Randy's rookie year. He was tearing it up early in the year, but once Fiedler went down, it seemed like RMac never got the ball the rest of the year.

Honestly, no jokes here, I really thought Jay was on a Pro Bowl level at the start of that year. I don't think anyone here can say that we wouldn't have been much better off with Jay the entire time, we would have easily won the one more game we needed (although that last one still hurts). Fiedler still got us 10 wins the next year, and while he wasn't winning them for us, he wasn't losing all of them like Ray was. Comparing Ray and Fiedler is ridiculous, because Fiedler had a winning record and really wasn't an absolutely horrible QB till last year.
