ok the steelers just traded for cobbs from newengland and they have 3 decent backs parker, staley,v.haynes and now cobbs so either staley or haynes has to be cut or traded? they wont trade one to us but they could cut staley? that would be a good backup for ronnie? thoughts?

We don't need Staley, he has a little trouble staying healthy. I wouldn't want him on the team just for that reason. I think there are way too many people panicking right now. Yes our runningback depth is a bit of a concern but we don't have to sign everyone that is available. We were spoiled with having 2 #1 RB's when not every team had that luxury. Now that Ricky is gone we are in the same boat as every other team in the NFL. I would rather get a decent backup than sign a guy based on his past numbers. Staley is very risky IMO.

.

I'm probably the only 1 on this site that thinks this Morris thing is no big deal. He was probably slated to get 5-6 carries per game. If Ronnie picks up 2-3 more carries, then I'm OK with Minor and Harris handling 2-3 carries per week. People are really overracting about losing a backup for 4 games. How many "trade for this guy" threads do we really need?

I also think that Antowain Smith is a good backup and should be signed. He averaged 4 yards per carry filling in for Deuce McAllister last season in New Orleans and if something were to happen to Ronnie, Smith could do a decent job filling in.

i agree

Another possibility may be Ryan Moats from the Eagles. He was a 3rd round pick in 2005 and did a good job towards the end of the season for the eagles. The Philadelphia inquirer is saying that he is playing for a roster spot in todays preseason game and may be cut. He can also be a good 3rd down running back.

Nope, he was their 3rd RB in an Anemic running attack-by far the worst in the league me thinks.
No to Staley, he is way done. He was done before even coming over to the Steelers...what 3 years ago...
I think we stick with what we got. There is a reason that Kayjay and Gerald Riggs have been spending time in Aqua and Orange.
