Heres the problem with your thoughts, If ronnie does get hurt do you really want his backup to be travis minor, gerlad riggs, Kay Jay Harris. Whoever is staying I dont trust any of them as a back up yet and I think most would agree.

If Ronnie went down, I wouldn't feel too confident in Morris as the #1 guy either. For a couple of carries a game I can live with it, but if Ronnie went down we could be in serious trouble with the running game with or without Morris! Just hope Ronnie stays healthy and runs like a beast all year!

lol this is an oxymoron situation. I doubt anybody feels good about there RB situation if there number 1 goes down. Its part of football. U just need capable guys to come in and fill the void if that happens. Hell do u think New England felt good when Dillon went down and had Evans carrying the rock. Probably not, but he was capable and did a good job. These things happen, its how u respond to these situations which seperate u from the elite teams.

Wait a minute, I hope you weren't refering to me! I may be an ox but I'm definately not a moron!

Kidding aside, you have a good point and basically that is what I was referring to. We were spoiled last year with the two headed monster at running back. This year we're in the same situation as any other team. Pray that Ronnie stays healthy and is capable of being the sole #1 guy!

smith is a decent backup with super bowl experience
I agree and we would cost us close to nothing. He should be good for a few games

I like Adrian Peterson and Antowain Smith. In that order.

Peterson would be much better because he could be our #2 for years to come. Smith would just fill in for a year or two.

Not crazy about Dayne or Staley. They're done. You could say the same of Smith but he's had a better carreer.

Who else?

Najeh Davenport and Lee Suggs are not upgrades over Sammy Morris.

Eric Shelton and Quincy Wilson are rookies. Unproven. But both of them have looked good in pre-season action. If we can't get Peterson or Smith, I'd go after Wilson. Then Shelton.

What about Najeh Davenport I heard he may be cut in Green Bay

Rotoworld is now reporting it done.

Packers Can Davenport

Packers released RB Najeh Davenport.
They gave Davenport every chance to make the team, but he didn't shine in training camp. Look for Miami or another running-back needy team to sign Dookie quickly as a backup. Sep. 2 - 6:29 pm et

He would be my choice out of the recently cut running backs.

Yeah, he did get cut. That would be sweet, Brown and Davenport in the same backfield.
