Rb2

Drake is our 2nd runningback. The rb market is always decent in FA but we have a good trio at rb, its one of the areas we least need help.
 
I think Drake should be our passing game back and special teams ace. We should look for a stud that drops in the 5th as we have many 5s.
 
We have Storm Johnson and Senorise Perry on futures deals. I like them both in a pinch to fill in as a #2-4, and we have a couple #2 RB's on the roster; and when they are used right, they are damm good at what they do. Drake could breakout this year or next.

Unless we make Damian Williams part of trade deal to the Giants for DRC, I don't see us drafting a RB; besides, good RB's are going to fall out of the draft and be available as free agents. Whoever gets Chase Morlock from the 5peat NDSU Bison is going to get busted for Grand Larceny.
 
No, not a need, but you have the opportunity to perhaps get great production at a discount.

What am I missing
2013...47 rushes for 262 yards...2 tds
2014...51 rushes for 365 yards...4 tds
2015...95 rushes for 354 yards...5 tds
2016...54 rushes for 373 yards...3 tds ...1354 yards rushing with 14 tds in 4 years

Jay Ajayi...2014...347 rushes for 1823 yards and 28 rushing tds...in 1 year
 
Im all for seeing Drake take an increased role, he did some eye opening stuff last year, definitely nice compliment to Ajayis bruising style with his more elusive style. Loved that reverse field long run he had last year....make big play out of nothing.

While I also agree it's not a huge need, you always have to look to upgrade. Drake is not a full-time player, so if anything happened to Ajayi, you only have Damien Williams, who is more of a 3rd down back himself. He's a career 3.4 ypc RB. Nice depth player, but not nice enough to stop me from shopping around. Plus, he's a FA after this year.

I really hope that Drake can really fill in the 2RB position, and returns on special teams as well. I'm a lot more positive on Drake than Williams, but both of them definitely have playmaking ability.
 
Yeah as really think Drake does seems to be the Jack of all Trades.

You'd have to watch Bison games to get it. They run multiple backs and especially like speed backs. That being said, they couldn't keep Morlock off the field. The guy can run with power, has a quick cutting step, good vision, can catch out of the backfield, and is deceptively fast. He doesn't have the stats but is one of those guys that can do everything well. Will probably start with special teams in NFL if he gets a shot. Obviously Kingdom watches a lot of college football and noticed that this guy can do a lot of things well. I hope he gets a chance in the NFL, if not drafted in last rounds, then as an UDFA.
