I was interested in looking for Ryan Tannehill highlights tonight and eventually came upon a Bills/Dolphins game in 1996 on YouTube. After watching that, I had the itch to re-watch the night the Dolphins retired Dan's number and inducted him into their team honor roll.

Find the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncPy5azoWS0

I remember I had this game taped, Ravens and Dolphins, along with the retirement ceremony. I just finished watching it now and man it feels like it just happened yesterday. I was a teenager/young adult and still get chills watching it. Maybe it's b/c I loved Mike Patrick on ESPN, or the music, or even Chris Berman's annoying self, but man this video (4 in total) is why I love football.

I'm 21, so too young to have truly enjoyed watching him play for my team. Here's to watching RT17 fill in those shoes.

I'm . . . older, and had the privilege of watching Marino. Cheers to that. :brewskis:

I was there. Pretty sure I still have the poster from the program for that game around here somewhere. I was 10 years old and it was my second game. Got to see Dan play there a couple years earlier.

That video is all the proof you ever need that despite all the moaning you hear, its fans not stadium bricks that create an atmosphere

I am probably the biggest Marino fan, ever. Danny captivated me in that magical 84 season and I never looked back. As I look back, and am more sophisticated of a fan, it pains me to know the cards were stacked against me so much, that it isn't surprising he never won a SB. It was all about personnel, and in today's day, Shula would be asked to remove himself from that position. Look at the first round picks from 87-89, Bosa, Kumerow and Smith - all garbage. Ireland would have been hanged. In 1991, Randal Hill. These guys never produced. I wish I had the time to know the defense and rush rankings we had (average) in Danny's years. Danny was forced to throw all the time and that bad timing of a pick in critical situations seemed to always happen. Defenses ignore play action and played the pass.

i have his retirement all taped on a VHS tape I did waaaaaaay back. i remember crying during it too!!!

I have it on VHS too but I have no idea where the hell it is. My folks probably have it where they live.

I only saw him live once at a preseason game vs the Redskins. I went to the game in Philly where Shula won his 325th game (1994) but Marino was hurt and Scott Mitchell was the QB. If my Dad was a Dolphins fan I'm sure I would've seen Marino more but it wasn't meant to be.

I've ever only gone to Miami since I was 19 and by that time Marino was retired.

I was lucky enough to be at that game (and old enough). It poured rain all first half, stopped just at the half as they set up for the ceremony. think the rain
came back for the second half. It was a great time.
The '84 Championship game (pitt vs miami) was my 1st game down in Miami (in the Orange bowl). What a show Dan put on. just a shame ran into an all-time
SF team in the SB. He had a great run, just one SB and he is in the talk of best ever. Shula the GM should have passed on the job.

Ugh, just hearing the Mad Dog's voice on some of those videos....:boohoo:
