Battered Dolphin Syndrome? LOL I believe most of us are suffering, I know I am.
Yesterday, I was so angry, and my comments reflected that.
Today, my anger has subsided to resignation to the fact that Ireland is the boss.
Now, regarding the Patriots, they were a playoff team, drastically improved under evil Belli with an inconsistent Bledsoe. The arrival of Brady, and Bledsoe's injury changed that franchises fortunes. I think Belli even underestimated Brady's impact.
Regarding the Fins, because we are lacking an elite QB(I think Moore is very good), it is imperative that we select a stable confident veteran coach like Marty Shottenhiemer. Most of us don't like his conservative ways, but you can't argue with his success. I don't care about his age because he is still in good health and good shape(arguably in better health than obese Rex Ryan). The stabilizing influence of Marty would help to erase the perception and the winning would mend fans enthusiasm.
Pair Marty with a younger coordinator(head coach material) to run whatever offense that our players skills demand. I think having his son in the position would cause some problems, but having the baby Shott on the team in some capacity may be beneficial to Marty.
Add to the staff Nolan(if he wants to return) Bowles(he would be great too..head coach material), or another quality 3-4 coordinator and we might be able to feel better about our chances this upcoming season.
The bottom line is that Marty truly wants to coach the Dolphins, he is still a quality coach and IMHO he would be the best fit at head coach to get this team into the playoffs with the nucleus of players. He will work with Ireland and be a positive change.
Shula endorses him too. Pretty good endorsement.
