Here's a link to the Ravens cap and FA situation. The article is 6 weeks old but, nothing has changed. I had thought that there was no way Monroe would be leaving Baltimore but now, not so sure. I've read where Harbaugh wanted to keep him, and that the GM was working on an extension. That was 2 months ago, and nothing new since then. I cannot see where they can afford to franchise him.

Monroe is the cream of the OL crop in FA. will be 27 in April, and VG in pass protect as well as on the run. I'm guessing that he will command a contract of 5 years and around $45M, with a cap hit of $7N this year. I would much rather pay him over Albert, and Collins is debatable.

My budget for the OL this year was $15M with Pouncey being kept. We could stay within that IF Z Martin was our G (around $2M), Asamoah at RG ($4M this year), and another $2-3M for a vet band-aid at RT, while still drafting one to compete. Otherwise, with Monroe, would have to increase the budget for a Deitrich-Smith ($4-5M this year) at center, and Pouncey moving to LG or being traded.

The OL is making me crazy, and still have 23 days before we have any idea of what Hickey has in mind. I'm now leaning towards Monroe as my #1 target if available. After the trade from Jax, he did not have a single bad game.

Why is it that Ozzie Newsome could get Monroe in a trade with Jax for a sweet price but Ireland couldn't? And then Ireland scrambles to trade draft picks for Baltimore's refuse, Bryant McKinnie. Things to ponder.

Not happening, they have just sorted a deal with Suggs to make sure both Pitta and Monroe will remain Ravens

To Jim, Ozzie's one of the best in the business, whether it's a representation of Ireland or Ozzie or both is up for debate. Would've been a great get. I think we really need 3 tackles to hit the market out of the pool of Monroe, Veldheer, Albert and Collins, that'd do us a big favour. I want nothing to do with Albert and I think Monroe's one of the better young tackles in the game and one of the few tackles I'd shell out more than $8m annually for, if he can be had for $9m annually it would be a great move, as much as I want Collins Monroe's superiority and track record is much more impressive and would warrant the difference in money. If Albert, Monroe and Collins enter the market it would be huge, more options and would drive contracts down a tad.

You're likely correct. I don't think it's a done deal though, about a 20% chance he gets to the market IMO.

We could offer big $ for Eugene Monroe, but the attraction of being on the Miami Dolphins O-line has taken a massive hit. Yes, we are looking at a complete remake with new players, new O-line coaches, etc. But it will still be difficult to attract top players because of the stench in the room - even with fumigation.
Only players and their agents 100% focused on earnings would want to talk. I can see Monroe saying that he'd be prepared to take a lot less to play for Baltimore. W e will probably have to offer much higher than market rate to attract O-linemen. Hickey might want player X but it will be hard to sign him.

Scuttlebutt is barring contract extension the tag goes to pitta...

Nothing to ponder, other than stupidity which I posted before and after the trade. Balt gets a PRO Bowl LT for a playoff run, and we get their left overs.

They are gonna lose Arthur jones the only ones they have to worry about are Daryl smith Eugene Monroe and pitta...dollars to donuts they do their damnest to keep pitta and Monroe and if need be let everything else go...they have a lb Arthur brown they drafted in the 2nd round they can plug into the starting line up and can play...

I think they will be fine to retain them both once they restructure Suggs and make a few more restructures or cuts etc...the Suggs thing will be done soon

might be able to retain Cody also...I doubt he will have much of a market...he just won't be a priority prior to the process

We agree again. I was against spending a lot for a LT but, "after further review" I would for Monroe as a complete LT who can lock down the position for the next 5 years. Seeing that they were supposedly in negotiations two months ago with no new news, I think there is a 50% chance of Monroe hitting the open market. I still like Collins but, have adjusted upwards for Monroe.

Agree that they will be able to make Monroe a good offer but, not be able to tag him. I'm hoping that he chooses to test FA, and we will outbid others to sign him.

Neither will leave the ravens. They will sign monroe and tag or sign pitta who frankly would be the ravens player of most interest to me

How do you know this as fact? I've researched this, and all OL options everywhere, and have to disagree.

Facts? Says the poster giving percentages lol

Research away but dont get attached to Monroe, he wont hit the market I can virtually guarantee that. The ravens dont trade for a player to lose him 3 months later for nothing. The suggs deal just makes the Monroe deal all he more likely

Pretty much...lock up Monroe long term and tag at the tight end rate pitta if need be...

Everything else be damned
