Read this. Fair and honest article:)

The thing that bothers me about the article is that just because the situation of others is even worse, it doesn't make our situation any better. And the one thing that concerns me about the Miami Dolphins is that I currently do not see any improvements compared to last year's squad. But let's wait until the draft is over and we shall see.

On paper they actually got quite a bit worse. They had a true #1 WR and no real #2 and now they don'teven have a real #1 or #2. They also lost a couple of key defensive players, so yea it looks grim right now but the only thing that really gives me hope at this point is the coaching change. Sparano was terrible and if Philbin can at least be competent I think the team won't take a big slide downward despite the loss of some talent. Philbin is going to have to coach his *** off though for this team to even be mediocre.

We started rebuilding 4 years ago..it's the NFL..thats WAY too long to rebuild a team.

Thats why people are mad.

A big sigh of relief for me. I thought we were horrible for a second. Yeah the team may not be the biggest joke in the league but they are pretty funny. No the sky isn't falling but JI and Ross should be under immense pressue. Any "its not that bad" excuse making articles should immediately be dismissed. I think JI should be fired but of course that won't happen. I don't think we should hang Jeff but we shouldn't just continue to be patient either. We are being told in so many words that they are rebuilding and we shouldn't complain about it.

The more I look at things in detail, the happier I am with Ireland and this group. Just one example-your first round pick should be a slam-dunk starter or at least contributor every single draft. Take a look at our historical first round picks:
In 1996, our first round pick was Daryl Gardener. Great player who started and contributed for years. After that:
1997: Yatil Green
1998: John Avery
1999: JJ Johnson
2000: No 1st round pick (took Todd Wade in 2nd)
2001: Jamar Fletcher
2002: No 1st rnd pick
2003: No 1st rnd pick (but we got Eddie Moore in rnd 2)
2004: Vernon Carey
2005: Ronnie Brown (with #2 pick overall)
2006: Jason Allen
2007: Ted Ginn (with #9 pick overall, we got his family too)
Now start Ireland's tenure:
2008: Jake Long - started from Day 1, perrenial pro-bowler
2009: Vontae Davis - starter, #1 cb on team, called best cb nobody knows by HOF QB Brett Favre
2010: Jared Odrick - missed first year with injury, contributor on deep line last year, projected starter this year + Koa Misi (remember we traded back, so our 1st rnd pick actually got us both guys)- he's a starter, but we're looking to upgrade
2011: Mike Pouncey - started at center from Day 1, projected as a top center in the league

Bottom line is we've actually gotten somewhere with our first round picks under Ireland, while the majority of those before him were absolute busts, and only a few actual contributors in Carey and Brown, that I would argue were reaches at their spots. He inherited a team devoid of talent because of previous lunacy with our 1st rounders. Cut the guy some slack!

saints, frisco and jets are full of pro bowl players and recent appearances in the playoffs and superbowl.

wow, i wish we could fug up like that.

you shouldnt have drank that kool aid they had in the pitcher on table ARMANDO.

i can not believe that spin, and there have been some good ones!!

were talking 15 years of futility that has lead up to the fans melt down. we are tired of hearing about the rome not being built in a day speeches. the romans at least had a road or two built, a coloseum and some winning "sports" in that time period.

there is way, way to much smoke for such a small fire as some are saying it is. its not just because we didnt get manning or fisher. ITS 15 YEARS OF EMPTY PROMISES AND SPEECHES! BAD DRAFTS. BAD FREE AGENTS. BAD OWNERS. BAD COACHES!!!

this is the problem. the years of futility are not whats being reported and focused on and its making us look like whiners who melted down over missing out on one player and one coach. STAY ON POINT!! talk about the last 15 years and the awful reputation around the nfl of our gm! the laugheter at our owner over his "star" ownership program and gator days festival and his gut wrenching, classless move in the harbaugh chase.

i will take a few black eyes like the saints and jets and frisco have. at least their winning and going to the play offs and superbowl and have great players.

there all sick right now and probably on the phone to their lawyers for being compared with the dolphins!!

right when you think armandope cant get any worse.

Players still don't want to come here and I blame that on Ireland. Nobody around the league has anything good to say about him except Ross. Wishing for somethng to happen isn't a plan

While I agree that things are not that bad at the moment, there's one thing that bothers me about this article and one thing that concerns me about the Miami Dolphins.

common sense should tell people that the non-offseason screwed us bigtime with the tough early schedule. We had four key players, five if you include Odrick coming off injury, that were a large part of the plan. Well, all the hammy pulls and groins should tell you this team was not ready to play and rookies suffered with no offseason. Clay, Thomas, Gates, and Pouncey all were keys to our new offense. You should have been able to tell by watching games that no offseason really screwed us. That will not happen this year. Which is why with an easier schedule, you should really be psyched for a great season because we have a HC who understands the big picture of an offense dictating to a defense.

how many players did the steelers bring in? New Orleans? Redskins? Cowboys? answer: not much

So go find another team that is not so ridiculous. Support the team. Stop complaining all the damn time. It's not productive and won't change a damn thing.

And pray tell how being some perma-optimist in the face of hilariously epic failings is productive or how it is going to change anything? You are bitching about someone bitching. Think about that for a second. You know what will change peoples' minds? Winning. Finding a quarterback that can be a multiple year solution. You act like people have no right to be disappointed.

Okay, how do we get a qb, they went after payton, mat wanted too much, now GM's of Finheaven, what would you do..I remember last year when you guys wanted Kolbs, McNair, Orton, and I remember when you wanted to draft Quinn and a bunch of other QB's who didn't pan out.. I don't see anyone track record here being any better than the real GM's we've had. We waited for Payton, and probaly missed out of some FA's this season, but if we'd done anything to cause us not to be in position to get PM, you guys would have storm the Dolphins facility rather than just picketed it. It's a no win situation for any GM we'd have right now..Most of you would have cause us not to even be in position for a PM, because you would have spend the cap up every year....we'd be in forever purge mode. I for one am willing to wait, we've waited all these years, I can wait a few more, for a chance to be dominate long term again..
Another question that I've always wanted to know is, is it really the player thats drafted that always dictates success for a QB or does the team that drafted them have alot to do with it? Would Aaron Rodgers have developed into an elite QB if he had been drafted by our QB "gurus". I have a feeling that some of these QB's that have become elite in other cities may have fallen flat on their faces had they come to Miami, or cleveland. Lets hope that Sherman and Philbin have what it takes to properly groom an NFL QB.

New England? I believe they brought in around 15 so far. You gonna say they are screwing up by bringing in FA's? I dunno about you but it seems they always have one of the best offseasons year in and year out. They were smart and grabbed as many of those cheap WR's as they could get. we just dumped ours. Not sayin we screwed up, just saying not all great teams are built in the draft.

New orleans signed Curtis Lofton, Chris Chamberlaim, broderick Bunkly, Ben Grubbs 4 guys that have been starters 3 of which have been pretty damn good players
