Read this. Fair and honest article:)

So what I get ... eat their scheist sammich ... and smile like you enjoy it. What a plan!! NEXT!!

Here's an idea ... why don't they be honest & communicate what can be said in a fair & balanced way.

We'll see what comes out of their talk ... but we've all got eyes!!! i.e. Ross' first press conference pulled a 180 (FA talk was all lies, we're building through the draft.)

The more I look at things in detail, the happier I am with Ireland and this group. Just one example-your first round pick should be a slam-dunk starter or at least contributor every single draft. Take a look at our historical first round picks:
In 1996, our first round pick was Daryl Gardener. Great player who started and contributed for years. After that:
1997: Yatil Green
1998: John Avery
1999: JJ Johnson
2000: No 1st round pick (took Todd Wade in 2nd)
2001: Jamar Fletcher
2002: No 1st rnd pick
2003: No 1st rnd pick (but we got Eddie Moore in rnd 2)
2004: Vernon Carey
2005: Ronnie Brown (with #2 pick overall)
2006: Jason Allen
2007: Ted Ginn (with #9 pick overall, we got his family too)
Now start Ireland's tenure:
2008: Jake Long - started from Day 1, perrenial pro-bowler
2009: Vontae Davis - starter, #1 cb on team, called best cb nobody knows by HOF QB Brett Favre
2010: Jared Odrick - missed first year with injury, contributor on deep line last year, projected starter this year + Koa Misi (remember we traded back, so our 1st rnd pick actually got us both guys)- he's a starter, but we're looking to upgrade
2011: Mike Pouncey - started at center from Day 1, projected as a top center in the league

Bottom line is we've actually gotten somewhere with our first round picks under Ireland, while the majority of those before him were absolute busts, and only a few actual contributors in Carey and Brown, that I would argue were reaches at their spots. He inherited a team devoid of talent because of previous lunacy with our 1st rounders. Cut the guy some slack!

1st rounders don't matter, look at all the 2nd round bust we have drafted. :chuckle:

I don't know if it is that we don't think you guys have a point in ripping the team/FO. But it just gets so depressing reading post after post about how we suck.
I want positive news or no news at all anymore. People, americans in particular want to be associated with winning. It is in our DNA. We don't like losing.
I have heard all I need to about how bad this team has been and is currently. My suggestion is going forward I think you all need to put your cards on the table.

We should some way to before FA and the draft each year have all you GM's out there make your draft boards and FA lists and salary cap numbers posted in a easily searchable sticky on the top of the forum. So we all can look back and see how you all look at the end of the year.
I dont normally comment on the draft because I am not a expert on talent evaluaon and I don't watch college football.

I think it would be very interesting to see how the FH experts fare.

Let me remind Armando and all the other Butt Kissers. The Saints have been a perennial playoff team, the Niners are one of the best teams in the NFC right now, the Jets made it to the AFC Championship 2 yrs in a row andt at 8-8 was still better than the Dolphins this past season. The Dallas Cowboys have made the post season a lot more than the Dolphins have the last 10 years. So for him to compare the Dolphins to those teams in any way, is just plain stupid. The Dolphins are being ridiculed because they deserve to be ridiculed.

I think you need to check yourself buddy.. Since 2000s the dolphins have the same amount of division tittles (2) and playoff wins (1) as the cowboys..

How did we do anything to lure Peyton? Got rid of our top WR without any replacement? PM wasn't going to come here with Hartline and Bess as his WRs with whoever we get in the draft.

Do you think just Marshall would have brought Payton here, what WR on Denver equal Marshall? Get it.. I was referring to the cap, if we didn't have the cap, we couldn't look at a Manning, but because the GM played the cap right the previous year, we atleast had a shot..most of you each year want to sign the top FA's, thus no cap space at all.

Players still don't want to come here and I blame that on Ireland. Nobody around the league has anything good to say about him except Ross. Wishing for somethng to happen isn't a plan

Name one player who we agree with their salary demand didn't sign here?

1st rounders don't matter, look at all the 2nd round bust we have drafted. :chuckle:

I'm still not convince Henne is a bust yet.. He was actually playing pretty good when he got hurt last year, our OL wasn't, and I think that's where most of his problem came from.

We didn't have a decent WR core to bring him here....get it? Denver's WR core is better than ours.

So of you just like to generalize to make your point....

You evidently have a reading comprehension problem and you speak in absolutes. We are talking about the future, not what happened 2-3 yrs ago.
And you evidently have no knowledge of football. Maybe you should stick to reading The Enquirer.

So go find another team that is not so ridiculous. Support the team. Stop complaining all the damn time. It's not productive and won't change a damn thing.
I have been a fan since 1977. I know what kind of teams the Dolphins used to have. This was a team you always thought was a shoe in for the Division title every year. I am not going to support this team because management is not supporting it. If you want to spend your money supporting it go ahead. They will have to earn my dollars now.

As a Bills fan, I know there are much worse things a team can do than resist the urge to do something just to do something. Just about tops on that list is chasing a QB just because you "need a franchise QB".
  • Believe me, taking the fourth best QB prospect, even in a QB-loaded draft as 2004 was, is a bad idea, especially if you trade up to get him. The Bills would be significantly better today if they had not traded up to grab JP Losman before some other team did. They could have had Matt Schaub in the 3rd in 2004. They could have drafted Aaron Rodgers in 2005 or Jay Cutler in 2006. They could have used that 2004 2nd and the 2005 first to draft better linemen on either side of the ball.
  • Then there's the joy of trading first and fourth round picks for somebody else's backup QB based on a limited body of work and finding your pig in a poke is a dud. Around B-lo, Rob Johnson is still referred to as "Robosack" for his inability to throw the ball before defenders crushed him -- and the Bills had a good line back then.
  • Then there's the brilliant move of trading a first rounder for an aging high maintenance QB and then not providing said maintenance. Drew Bledsoe needed a good OL and good targets, neither of which the Bills really gave him. He lasted 3 years on the Bills before moving on to Dallas for a couple of years.
IMO, Fin fans need to be patient in the quest for a franchise QB. Matt Moore is hardly the worse QB in the league, and as the playoffs showed last season, good defensive teams can go pretty far even without elite QBs (San Francisco, Cincinatti, Houston, Baltimore). We Bills fans are banking on Ryan Fitzpatrick, who is easily the second best QB the Bills have had in the 21st century behind Bledsoe and for whom we gave up nothing except some $$ and cap space. Neither Moore nor Fitzpatrick get much respect around the league because they aren't 1st or 2nd rounders, but hey, they've done better with a whole lot less than the likes of Mark Sanchez and Kevin Kolb have done.

If you doubt that your team having patience is a virtue, just look northeast to Dirty Jersey where Tebowmania has engulfed the Jests. :lol2:

Most of you would have cause us not to even be in position for a PM, because you would have spend the cap up every year....we'd be in forever purge mode.

That is exactly what ireland has been paid handsomely to do for the last few years. Waste cap on backups and positions that don't warrant big $$$, so he can conveniently ignore QB by saying we have no cap space left.

What great QBs in the last dozen years, aside from Rodgers in 2005, have the Fins been in a position to take in the draft that they didn't? When San Francisco took Alex Smith instead of Rodgers, red flags went up on just about every draft board in the NFL. Most teams thought the Niners had discovered something nasty about Rodgers, so nobody would gamble on him until the Packers did. You could make the argument that Matt Ryan was available in 2008, but Ryan was considered a reach at #3. Missing on Rodgers didn't happen on Ireland's watch, however, and I believe that Parcells was running things in 2008.

Aside from Drew Brees in 2006, what great FA QBs have the Fins failed to sign? Again, this happened before Ireland came to the Dolphins.

What great QBs have been available for trade in the recent past? Philly shipped McNabb to the Deadskins for a 2nd and they sent him off to the Vikes for a 6th I think and he managed to lose his job to a rookie. Philly also shipped out Kolb to Arizona. The Cards didn't start winning until after Kolb was injured and Skelton took over. The only decent QB that any team got via trade was Matt Schaub to the Texans. That might have been while Ireland was the Fins GM.

So, maybe the Fins have missed on 3 or 4 QBs in the draft, in FA, and via trade in the last dozen years. Of those, only 1, Schaub, occurred when Ireland was the GM. Maybe Fin fans should give Ireland the benefit of the doubt and concentrate their ire where it belongs, on Parcells, who had 2 or 3 really lousy drafts as the Fins GM, including taking Pat White with a 2nd rounder.
