Funny.. people flame the FO every time they open their mouths.

People flame them when they don't.

One day it will stop and people will get used to the M.O.

how much of this is on Dawn Aponte?

She put the Clowns in cap hell, but the worst was in the sorry time the owns had no real front office while they were courting Holmgrem she about ran Cribbs out of town! She continued to over step her bounds when Holmgrem got their made so Cribbs wouldn't even talk to them. Got her fired!

It will stop when they've convinced the entire fanbase to accept unending sub-mediocrity, not before.

So excuses, excuses ....

"If Miami had extended any before free agency, their cap hits could have been lowered to give Miami more money to spend in free agency or less need to cut Bell. Regettably, that did not happen, though Miami wants to keep all long-term".

This tells us how incompetent our front office is. That's all we need to know.

So, it's not Jeff Ireland's fault because ... It's Jeff Ireland's fault???
Yeah, that's how I read the last part. Huge mistake not extending certain players before the end of the season, but considering we were changing coaching staffs at the time, its doubtful that they wanted to make any commitments without knowing what the new staff wanted to do. Though I think the o-line thing is probably mostly on Sparano and his constant tinkering. Thought he was a guru there, apparently not.

The biggest thing I didnt like about that article was this:

Alex Smith, who re-signed with the 49ers, implied to Bay Area writers he never seriously considered Miami and visited the Dolphins because “I had never been to Miami Beach and thought it was a good way to see it.” Lovely....

(Thats some BS there for an average player to come in and try to play them) That was the FA's M.O.

Manning and Winston would have been obvious upgrades but since they didnt sign, I wasn't going to trip. Many of the FA were around the same caliber as the Dolphin counterparts but demanded 3X the pay! Im not a fan of Ireland but I do believe he did right not going off the fiscal deep end. I will reserve my judgement until after the Draft)

As I've previously said......My primary concern was this organization finally landing a real quarterback, one with the potential for greatness and the ability to make the plays that win championships.

Its been the biggest mistakes made by this organization and is the largest reason for the failure of this organization the past 12 years. The Dolphins have not invested a 1st round pick on a quarterback since 1983.....thats 29 years....name me another organization that has done that?

This is not just ireland and aponte.

This is a DECADE-LONG problem wih the overall philosophy and makeup of the team. This franchise is Stuck On Stupid with the IDIOTIC idea that OL are more valuable than QB's, WR's and RB's and they pay accordingly.

OL are a dime a dozen and can be found anywhere. Good coaching and technique make them special.

Mediocrity at the skill positions is unforgivable and ALWAYS shows in the W-L record.

There is no "coaching up" a QB, he either has "IT" or he doesn't. If he is inaccurate and has no sense of timing, he is nothing.

Funny how other teams know this but we refuse to learn or acknowledge it.

It has IMO become an ego thing. ireland is determined to make "his way" work, even if it CAN'T.

The problem with using the draft is that we have gotten maybe 2 star players through it in the last 5 years. If you want to build through the draft you need to do a better job drafting than Ireland has done.

After reading the article and some comments I wonder if the Fins were actually aware that they could have lowered their cap hit this season. The capologist, Dawn Aponte, was fired from Cleveland because she created cap problems..she does a bad job,,to put it kindly.
On top of that you add all the dead cap space (approx 10 million) from bad deals with players no longer with the team and it is easy to see why we have less cap space. The Fins organization is very sloppy, disorganized, and wasteful.
That extra money that is dead cap, or unrealized cap space could have enabled us to land Manning or 2 other top FA's if we chose to go that route. The old expression.."follow the money" leads right to this inefficient front office.

the bad part is next offseason..... Not only are long, bush and starks contracts up but so are wakes, vontae and smiths contracts i believe. so if your were dissapointed this year next year is going to be mass hysteria on this site cuz i dont see how we r going to have the money to sign all of those players.... i could see us maybe keeping 3 of the 6 or hopefully 4 out of the 6 but not all of them which sucks cuz all it does it bring up more holes to fill because they r all starters and young for the most part.

So $5miland hit.on backup offensive lineman... and $12mil hit on guys who arent even on he team... with needs now at safety, wr, and get this...Oline..... edds was cheap... he may have cthe ontributed in a 4-3.. imo..
We got a lot money being put to no use from the looks of it... bazically 17 million in backups if you pool it together with guys no longer on the roster. Ive always said supplement throguh FA, and the draft... the problem with building through the draft and signing free agents like depth guys and 3therd cb' s.... you virtually have to hit on 5 draft picks a yeat to make it work. We havent done that for a long.time!
