Clearly he is less talented which is why Sanchez was a top 5 pick and henne was a 2nd rd pick.

What I'm getting by this statement is that in your eyes, draft position equates to greatness. So by your logic, Sanchez > Brady?

Stupid argument. Do better.

No but the comment was made Henne is more talented, if Henne was more talented why did Sanchez go so much higher? Brady had a unique situation in college but Henne started for 4 years. sanchez was viewed as a better prospect, more talented player and has been a better pro by a good margin.

Ok, fair enough. But you said it yourself "was viewed as" but did not perform as such IMO. I'll give you that somehow Sanchez performs well in crunch time. Something Henne never managed to get done. Beyond that though, Sanchez hasn't got a leg up talent wise.

A quick question though... Was Todd Blackledge > Dan Marino? I'll predict that your answer is "no". If Marino was more talented why did Blackledge go so much higher?

I'm just trying to show you that your logic of draft position = greatness is flawed.

**** this thread derailment. I, for one, am very excited about moving to a WCO. You tell yourself whatever it takes to convince yourself that Sparano is a good OC Junc, but I am definitely happy to be rid of him. The Jests getting him was just icing on the cake.

The Tebow wildcat thing will probably work the first few games. Not going to lie. Then the gimmic will be over. I tell you what though. Everyone can smash the wildcat and Miami as much as they want, but when we brought it out on NE was probably my happiest day since Marino and our winning ways were around. First time I had ever seen NE totally lost on what to do for a whole game and were just pounded into the ground.

That was a fun season and game. Some of my favorites were that game, JP's sack against the niners, Davone's big catch against the raiders, and of course that giant win in New York.

The Ravens didn't win w/ a below average QB and we don't have a below average QB. We have a guy who was a top 10 caliber QB 2 years ago and dropped off a bit this past season but a guy who helped us get to 2 title games so we know we can win big w/ him.

Sparano has trust issues, he never trusted Henne (probably rightfully so) and thus he went for a ton of FG's instead of rolling the dice and even sat on a freebie hail mary at the end of a game once. I really have no idea if he's going to trust sanchez, but in my opinion Sanchez is highly inconsistent so you may see similar, bland style of offensive play we had down here.

Dammit, I've contributed on this one. My bad man...

we drafted lamar miller and daniel thomas in the last 2 drafts, people that are thinking we are not going to run the ball anymore are insane. Yes we are going with a more wco offense but that doesnt mean philbin wont pound that rock, thats what opens up the passing game.

What I love is the fact that the Jets feel he is an offensive line guru, the Jets were all over Callahan because Prettyboy was sacked 35 times last year,I can not wait to see him crushed 54 next year. I believe the Jets plan all along was the OC combo of Sparano and Haley and they misstep by hiring Sparano before they got a commitment from Haley. They were stuck with Sparano and knew their only offensive hope was a form of the wildcat so they were forced to trade for Tebow....

The league in general won't be as pass obsessed as most fans believe. It's the same type of overreaction that wants to believe a 4 to 8 win direction equates to 12 the following year. I won a small friendly bet with a friend of mine, regarding how many running backs would be drafted in the first three rounds. He fell for the overstatement of the decline of the running back position and let me bet over 5. Once it reached 3 in the first round he called to surrender.

Teams will stress the pass rush more than they did prior to 2011, and taking away the tight end, after that position was so successful last year. It won't be a dramatic change but a decline and not a further advance. You can almost guarantee the lower passing yardage numbers will become a media theme not long into the season.

The problem the Dolphins face is similar to many teams across the league will encounter, the ones without premier quarterbacks. The more those teams throw the ball and become one dimensional the worse they'll fare and the more imbalanced the league becomes. It's not the emphasis but the ammo. As a season win bettor I used to look at the 11 and 11.5 numbers, wondering if they could make it. Now you can't fathom much of a chance for the teams with great quarterbacks to lose more than 3 or 4 games, with all the pathetic emulators and their mediocre quarterbacks, brainstorming that the key to happiness is tossing it around 35+ times. The killer joke in the NFL right now is running out of an empty set with a less than dominant quarterback. My buddy who still works for the stats office that I used to frequent sends me one hilarious email after another when a stooge quarterback is asked to sit back there in an empty set, all but inviting the edge rusher to avalanche.

We used Reggie Bush brilliantly last year. He's favored to decline partially because Joe Philbin is unlikely to provide the same type of ideally suited comfort zone that Reggie had at USC; plenty of carries and patience, and out of I formation sets. Then the Reggie knockers can say they had it right all along, even if situational influence dictated. An out of bounds opinion often hits a tree and plops in the fairway.

u know i normally defend junc and the jets on these forums but this time you lost me junc, i have seen first hand what sparano can do to an nfl team. I think the jets made a huge mistake in hiring a coach like sparano as there OC, maybe you could have hired him to be your oline coach but oc? no, he is too conservative and too gimmicky, doesnt go for the win, goes for the tie. Thats 1 thing i respected about schoottenheimer, he always went for it and in the end someone had to take the blame for your teams collapse. Your all in for a surprise overthere injetland with your new oc, its going to be ugly.

marino fell for off field reasons and marino was obviously much better on the field. If henne was better than sanchez on the field you'd have a point but he wasn't and it wasn't really close.

Callahan is a very good OL coach, no one was blaming him or they shouldn't have been. Mangold getting hurt killed the OL, he came back too soon and was never healthy, Slauson played injured all year, Moore missed all of camp and never looked right. My hope is if these guys are healthy we'll see a much better OL.

we'll see, I don't know what to expect from him. I know we have talent but we'll see what happens.

My apologies in that earlier post Junc. I was editing and rewriting and just missed it.

As for Sparano, he called plays one season in Dallas then was replaced by Jason Garrett. Yes Henning was the mastermind of the chaos known as the Dolphins offense but Sparano listened through the headsets and would overrule a pay if he saw fit. That's normal. I think it is quite safe to assume that Rex did the same with Schotty but Schotty tried to use an aggressive passing game but couldn't for various reasons including line play, QB play and WR play. I am not aware of Rex ever saying that he overruled Schotty but again, I don't see him really getting overly involved with the offense, especially since he and Sparano have the same offensive philosophy of pounding the ball. Sparano goes a step further in saying on record, he likes to keep it lose then win in the end.

I think MarshallFin hit the nail on the head about the Jets erring with Todd Haley by hiring Sparano then hoping he would come aboard as the passing game coordinator. Although he has a monster ego and is quite the Dbag, Haley would have been a better choice then Sparano.
