Still Perfect.. and You're Not.
If you would have asked me what my board would look like yesterday it would be 100% different than it looks today. With the news of failed drug test from Cushing, Vontae Davis, Clay Matthews, BJ Raji, and Percy Harvin all of them find themselves knocked off our draft board. Why? everyone makes a mistake right? April 25th is the biggest day of these kid's life and they FAILED. If you aren't prepared for the biggest day of your life I do not have confidence that you will be prepared for your career.
1-Larry English-Outside Linebacker-Northern Illinois
* if we are emphasizing pass-rush there is noone more ready to prosper as an Outside Linebacker in the 3-4 defense. English' quick first step gives him an edge on getting to the Quarterback.
2-Hakeem Nicks-Wide Receiver-North Carolina
* Nicks recent weight fluctuation scares me off a little but not the Trifecta b/c they recently took Chad Henne with them to test out Nicks. Nicks is the most NFL-ready receiver in this draft IMO and could be our true #1
3-Darius Butler-Cornerback-Connecticut
* This kid was marvelous as the combine and even more spectacular at his pro-day. He ran a 4.36 forty yard and does not carry off the field baggage. Butler could slip all the way to pick #44 but could go as high as #23 to the Patriots.
4-Sean Smith-Cornerback-Utah
*I have Darius Butler as 1A and I have Smith as 1B. I know we have shown a lot of interest in both Butler and Smith. Smith has ideal size at 6"3. Jason Allen doesn't seem to be in the teams' plans and Will Allen is a free agent, Could you imagine Butler at #25 and Smith at #44.
5-Connor Barwin-Outside Linebacker-Cincinnati
*This kid is just the ultimate athlete. He played a little Tight End and a little Defensive End . I think he projects well as an Outside Linebacker in the 3-4 because there is no question his ability to pressure and bring down the Quarterback. Playing some Tight End indicates that he has solid hands which should help him out in coverage.
6-Rey Maualuga-Inside Linebacker-USC
*This guy is a special player. He is a tackling machine who can really lay the lumber. At times he plays a little reckless which leaves him at of position but that is coachable; the instincts and aggresiveness he plays with is natural. This guy has Parcells written all over him.
In Round 1 I have narrowed it down to those 6 players.
