2009 NFL Mock Draft
By: Neal Driscoll

Round 1

  • Lions: Matthew Stafford-Quarterback-Georgia
  • Rams: Eugene Monroe-Offensive Tackle-Virginia
  • Chiefs: Aaron Curry-Linebacker-Wake Forest
  • Seahawks: Jason Smith-Left Tackle-Baylor
  • Browns: Brian Orakpo-Outside Linebacker-Texas
  • Bengals: Bj Raji-Defensive Tackle-Boston College
  • Raiders: Jeremy Maclin-Wide Receiver-Missouri
  • Jaguars: Michael Crabtree-Wide Receiver-Texas Tech
  • Packers: Everette Brown-Outside Linebacker-Florida State
  • 49ers: Mark Sanchez-Quarterback-USC
  • Bills: Brian Cushing-Outside Linebacker-USC
  • Broncos: Malcolm Jenkins-Cornerback-Ohio State
  • Redskins: Andre Smith-Offensive Tackle-Alabama
  • Saints: Chris Wells-Running Back-Ohio State
  • Texans: Percy Harvin-Wide Receiver-Florida
  • Chargers: Michael Oher-Offensive Tackle-Mississippi
  • Jets: Josh Freeman-Quarterback-Kansas State
  • Bears: Vontae Davis-Cornerback-Illinois
  • Buccaneers: Clay Matthews Jr.-Outside Linebacker-USC
  • Lions (Cowboys): Tyson Jackson-Defensive End-LSU
  • Eagles: Knowshon Moreno-Running Back-Georgia
  • Vikings: Hakeem Nicks-Wide Receiver-North Carolina
  • Patriots: Rey Maualuga-Inside Linebacker-USC
  • Falcons: Brandon Pettigrew-Tight End-Oklahoma State
  • Dolphins: Larry English-Outside Linebacker-Northern Illinois- In a rcent interview Tony Sparano made it clear the pass rushing was a major area of focus and there is not a better 3-4 Outside Linebacker in this draft than Larry English. English has an amazing first step and is a relentless pass rusher. This guy gives maximum effort play in and play-out. He is solid against the run but does need some work in pass coverage. He reminds me much of Demarcus Ware who might be the best linebacker in football, wait there is no might on that one.
  • Ravens: James Laurinaitis-Inside Linebacker-Ohio State
  • Colts: Peria Jerry-Defensive Tackle-Mississippi
  • Eagles (Panthers): Aaron Maybin-Defensive End-Penn State
  • Giants: Darrius Heyward Bey-Wide Receiver-Maryland
  • Titans: Evander Hood-Defensive Tackle-Missouri
  • Cardinals: Michael Johnson-Defensive End-Georgia
  • Steelers: Eben Britton-Left Tackle-Arizona

ROUND 2

  • Lions: Alphonso Smith-Cornerback-Wake Forest
  • Patriots (Chiefs): Connor Barwin-Outside Linebacker-Cincinnati
  • Rams: Kenny Britt-Wide Receiver-Rutgers
  • Browns: Donald Brown-Running Back-Connecticut
  • Seahawks: Louis Delmas-Safety-Western Michigan
  • Bengals: William Beatty-Offensive Tackle-Connecticut
  • Jaguars: Darius Butler-Cornerback-Connecticut
  • Raiders: Robert Ayers-Defensive End-Tennessee
  • Packers: Jarron Gilbert-Defensive End-San Jose State
  • Bills: Jared Cook-Tight End-South Carolina
  • 49ers: Clint Sintim-Outside Linebacker-Virginia
  • Dolphins (Redskins): Sean Smith-Cornerback-Utah- The Dolphins are very keen on both Darius Butler and Sean Smith and they just hope that one of these guys fall to them. Both are first round talents who just fall due to an numbers game. Smith has ideal size at 6"3 and dieal spped with a 4.4 forty; the kid moves with great fluidity and has very good ball skills. This means the end of the Jason Allen era in Miami but with Will Allen, Eric Green, Nate Jones, Sean Smith, and possibly Demarcus ***gins we will be set at Corner.
  • Giants (Saints): Max Unger-Center/Guard-Oregon
  • Texans: Alex Mack-Center-California
  • Patriots (Chargers): DJ Moore-Cornerback-Vanderbilt
  • Broncos: Paul Krugar-Defensive End-Utah
  • Bears: Brian Robiskie-Wide Receiver-Ohio State
  • Browns (Buccaneers): Jairus Byrd-Cornerback-Oregon
  • Cowboys: William Moore-Safety-Missouri
  • Eagles: Duke Robinson-Guard-Oklahoma
  • Jets: LeSean McCoy-Running Back-Pittsburgh
  • Vikings: Jamon Meredith-Offensive Tackle-South Carolina
  • Falcons: Rashad Johnson-Safety-Alabama
  • Dolphins: Ron Brace-Nose Tackle-Boston College-I do not think I have seen a players' draft stock fluctuate like that of Ron Brace's in quite some time. I have seen him in Round 1 and even Round 3. I think he is perfect for this pick because I hear that Paul Soliai will not be a Dolphin come opening day and we need to groom a replacement for Jason Ferguson. Ron Brace is the best Nose Tackle in this draft not named BJ Raji. He has ideal size and stregth to man the middle of this defense.
  • Ravens: Shawn Nelson-Tight End-Southern Mississippi
  • Patriots: Eric Wood-Center/Guard-Louisville
  • Panthers: Sen’Derrick Marks-Defensive Tackle-Auburn
  • Giants: Marcus Freeman-Outside Linebacker-Ohio State
  • Colts: Darry Beckwith-Inside Linebacker-LSU
  • Titans: Coye Francies-Cornerback-San Jose State
  • Cardinals: Rashard Jennings-Running Back-Liberty
  • Steelers: Victor Harris-Cornerback-Virginia Tech

ROUND 3

  • Lions: Fili Moala-Defensive Tackle-USC
  • Rams: Patrick Chung-Safety-Oregon
  • Chiefs: Cody Brown-Outside Linebacker-Connecticut
  • Seahawks: Ramses Barden-Wide Receiver-Cal. Poly
  • Cowboys (Browns): Keenan Lewis-Cornerback-Oregon State
  • Bengals: Shonn Greene-Running Back-Iowa
  • Raiders: Fenuki Tupou-Offensive Tackle-Oregon
  • Jaguars: Dorrell Scott-Defensive Tackle-Clemson
  • Packers: James Casey-Tight End-Rice
  • 49ers: Phil Loadholt-Offensive Tackle-Oklahoma
  • Bills: Antoine Caldwell-Center-Alabama
  • Jets (Saints): Juaquin Iglesias-Wide Receiver-Oklahoma
  • Texans: Mike Mickens-Cornerback-Cincinnati
  • Chargers: Lawrence Sidbury-Outside Linebacker-Richmond
  • Broncos: Terrence Taylor-Nose Tackle-Michigan
  • Redskins: Kraig Ubrik-Guard-Wisconsin
  • Buccaneers: Gerald McGrath-Linebacker-Southern Mississippi
  • Lions (Cowboys): Cornelius Ingram-Tight End-Florida
  • Packers (Jets): Javon Ringer-Running Back-Michigan State
  • Bears: Troy Kropog-Offensive Tackle-Tulane
  • Eagles: Chase Coffman-Tight End-Missouri
  • Vikings: David Veikune-Defensive End-Hawaii
  • Dolphins: Kevin Barnes-Cornerback-Maryland-This pick is based that we do not sign Demarcu ***gins and this would be an absolute steal. Barnes is a complete corner and I am honored to have played with him at Maryland. His ball skills are far etter than he is given credit for and Barnesy can really lay the lumber. Have you seen that hit he had against Cal? He moves really well and has the complete opposite of stiff hips. Barnes scored a 41 on his Wonderlic test, not bad for a Terp eh?
  • Ravens: Derrick Williams-Wide Receiver-Penn State
  • Patriots: Darcel McBath-Safety-Texas Tech
  • Falcons: Tyrone McKenzie-Outside Linebacker-South Florida
  • Giants: Andre Brown-Running Back-NC State
  • Colts: Louis Murphy-Wide Receiver-Florida
  • Panthers: Nate Davis-Quarterback-Ball State
  • Titans: Jonathan Luigs-Center-Arkansas
  • Cardinals: Herman Johnson-Offensive Line-LSU
  • Steelers: Pat White-Quarterback-West Virginia
  • Patriots (Compensatory): Travis Beckum-Tight End-Wisconsin
  • Bengals (Compensatory): Andy Levitre-Guard-Oregon State
  • Bears (Compensatory): Chip Vaughan-Safety-Wake Forest
  • Giants (Compensatory): Asher Allen-Cornerback-Georgia

ROUND 4

  • Cowboys (Lions): Jarrett Dillard-Wide Receiver-Rice
  • Chiefs: Trevor Canfield-Guard-Cincinnati
  • Rams: Zach Follett-Outside Linebacker-California
  • Browns: Scott McKillop-Inside Linebacker-Pittsburgh
  • Seahawks: Rhett Bomar-Quarterback-Sam Houston State
  • Bengals: Courtney Greene-Safety-Rutgers
  • Jaguars: Michael Hamlin-Safety-Clemson
  • Dolphins (Raiders): Brandon Gibson-Wide Receiver-Washington State- A lot of people are going to say why didn't we go receiver int he first 3 rounds and I think that it's because everyone of interest will be gone by the time we pick so we go for a steal in Round 4.. Complete. Brandon Gibson is under the radar and I do not understand how. The kid is a gifted route runner with gifted speed, and great hands. I think he is a better player than Ramses Barden, Derrick Williams, Juaquin Iglesias, and even Brian Robiskie.
  • Packers: Gerald Cadogan-Offensive Tackle-Penn State
  • Bills: Ricky Jean Francois-Defensive Tackle-LSU
  • 49ers: Chris Baker-Defensive Tackle-Hampton

  • Broncos: Louis Vasquez-Guard-Texas Tech
  • Jets (Redskins): Mitch King-Defensive End-Iowa
  • Saints: Curtis Taylor-Safety-LSU
  • Cowboys: Cornelius Lewis-Offensive Tackle-Tennessee State
  • Saints (Jets): Domonique Johnson-Cornerback-Jackson State
  • Bears: Jonathan Casillas-Outside Linebacker-Wisconsin
  • Buccaneers: Drew Willy-Quarterback-Buffalo
  • Eagles: Jasper Brinkley-Inside Linebacker-South Carolina
  • Texans (Vikings): Matt Shaughnessy-Defensive End-Wisconsin
  • Ravens: Sherrod Martin-Cornerback-Troy
  • Patriots: Sammie Lee Hill-Defensive Tackle-Stillman
  • Falcons: Mohamed Massaqui-Wide Receiver-Georgia
  • Raiders (Dolphins): Jerraud Powers-Cornerback-Auburn
  • Colts: Mike Goodson-Running Back-Texas A&M
  • Panthers: DeAngelo Smith-Cornerback-Cincinnati

  • Cardinals: Brandon Williams-Defensive End-Texas Tech
  • Steelers: Captain Munnerlyn-Cornerback-South Carolina
  • Chargers (Compensatory): James Davis-Running Back-Clemson
  • Chargers (Compensatory): Roy Miller-Defensive Tackle-Texas
  • Titans (Compensatory): Joe Burnett-Cornerback-Central Florida
  • Colts (Compensatory): Vance Walker-Defensive Tackle-Georgia Tech

  • Bills: Stephen McGee-Quarterback-Texas A&M
  • Chargers: Anthony Parker-Guard-Tennessee
  • Broncos: Alex Magee-Defensive Tackle-Purdue
  • Redskins: Dallas Reynolds-Center-BYU
  • Giants (Saints): Will Davis-Defensive End-Illinois

  • Patriots: John Parker Wilson-Quarterback-Alabama
  • Falcons: Will Johnson-Defensive Tackle-Michigan
  • Dolphins: Frantz Joseph-Inside Linebacker-Florida Atlantic-The Dolphins need help at Inside Linebacker and here is another small-schoolg uy flying under the radar. We have a private workour with this guy comping up and it just shows how interested we are. Say hello to the eventual replacement for Akin Ayodele. Joseph is just a beast of a plyer who is another good character guy. He has good range and is a very solid tackler.
  • Ravens: Brandon Tate-Wide Receiver-North Carolina
  • Panthers: Cameron Morrah-Tight End-California
  • Giants: Garrett Reynolds-Offensive Tackle-North Carolina
  • Colts: Glen Coffee-Running Back-Alabama
  • Cowboys (Titans): Graham Harrell-Quarterback-Texas Tech

  • Bengals: Dannell Ellerbe-Inside Linebacker-Georgia
  • Jaguars: Darryl Richard-Defensive Tackle-Georgia Tech
  • Dolphins (Raiders): Tony Fiammetta-Fullback-Syracuse-Loushaka was effective in short yardage situations but we need a more complete Fullback. Fiammetta is the best fullback in this draft as he possesses solid hands, can runw ith the rock, and will go hit linebackers and pick up the blitz. Complete and solid.

I always get worried when fans start talking about one player being the next "somebody" special....especially when their times are average at best.

One could say that English has straight speed...if you like 4.8's but looking at his cone, shuttle it's nothing to rave about.

i love rounds 1 and 2 like 5 and 6...the rest i just have a different opinion on those

Even the best websites dont give an all 7 round mock.

Fair play RD, bet that took alot of time dude.

nice work Driscoll...you put time&effort into that mock...i like your first 3 picks...OLB,CB,&NT addressed with our first 3 picks,i like that...

lmao at worrying about times only...and a DE running a 4.8 on a slow combine track is nothing to worry about, Lamar Woodley ran a 4.8 if i remember correctly.

First it's not only the slow 40 time...it's his slow agility times that are more important. Woodley didn't run at the combine....but he was estimated to be a 4.7 type of player.

On his proday Woodley ran a 4.74 and a 4.84.

Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports Michigan DE LaMarr Woodley (hamstring) measured a weight of 265 pounds at his Pro Day. Woodley ran the 40-yard dash in 4.74 seconds and 4.84 seconds and the short shuttle in 4.42 seconds, but a tight hamstring prevented him from running the three-cone drill. He measured a 38 1/2-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot-9 broad jump and completed 29 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press.

so thanks for proving my point. he ran a 4.8 basically while his short shuttle was slower then English's SS.

watch tape fishy, both Woodley and English are explosive players, times not needed.

Each to their own Nappy. I just don't see him at 25...in fact I see him in the 2nd round.

His first step makes him faster to the Quarterback than Lamarr Woodley. I would say with confidence that Larry English is the best Outside Linebacker not named Aaron Curry in the draft

Ha well I was in the hospital for 48 hours but I didn't say that I didn't have a computer...April 25th here we come...

This draft would put our defense is such an stellar position.

The next step is switching Chad's. While Pennington is maybe my favorite player his limitations cost us. With Henne at the helm, Ginn Jr. and Bess are better players....
