Still Perfect.. and You're Not.
Some of you are truly crazy with the crap I am reading about Firing Tony Sparano, us being a bad team etc. Doesn't it get old jumping on and off the band-wagon? I mean here we are not only completing but playing with the best teams in this league such as the Colts and Saints and we are calling to fire everyone? Here is what I saw..
*The Dolphins are a team that is very close to becoming a very good team in this league. They are few bounces away from being on the top of the AFC East with a team full of young talent. Sure we have a few holes but you name a team that doesn't. We are still a good draft and free agency period away from being a real contender but to say we are a bad team is crazy. Ask Drew Brees if we are a bad team.
*Chad Henne didn't look great by any means but those two interceptions were not his fault. He did miss some throws but he also made some nice ones. I am actually kind of upset that we don't let him toss the rock as much. I know he ended with 36 pass attempts but I want us to take more shots in our vertical passing game. This was Chad Henne's worst start yet BUT we have to expect some bad with a young Quarterback who is taking his couple of starts. Currently Henne is 2-1 as a starter with that loss coming to the best team in the NFL in which we dominated the contest for 85% of the game.
*I love Ronnie Brown and I do think he is an elite back but right now Ricky Williams is better. I write a column entitled "Ricky's Road to Redemption" a few weeks back stating that Ricky didn't redeem himself to me yet and right now I am eating crow. How can you ever trust someone who has broken your heart twice? You watch them dedicate themself to the team and come back better than they ever were. Ricky Williams would be a Hall of Famer is he hadn't "retired" after the 2003 NFL Season and would have been a rock-star in Miami like Dan Marino. Ricky is back and is running better than ever. He looks fast.. real fast. Unless they add some wrinkles to the Wild-Cat than I hope it stops because it is making our offense very predictable. I am starting to question the Pat White pick as they haven't given him the opportunity to make plays. I am not a football mind but when Pat White is in the game I know we are running and so does the opposing defenses. We need to add wrinkle or two or the Wild-Cat has to stop.
*The one play we passed out of the Wild-Cat Ronnie made a tremendous individual effort to put a pass right on the money and Anthony Fasano dropped it. You talk about a kick in the pants. Resigning Fasano was a priority of mine coming into the season and I think we should still but as a #2 Tight End because Fasano is clearly not a #1 Tight End. He is dropping key passes and is a totally different player than he was last season.
*Ted Ginn Jr. needs to go. He is starting to cost us games and I will not have that on my watch. That interception for a TD by Darren Sharper was a beautiful throw to Ted Ginn Jr. which he should have caught and if not it put at a spot that the defender couldn't get to it by Ted Ginn Jr. lets it hit his hands then kicks it to Darren Sharper. Ginn can't catch and ESPN's Bill Simmons said it best Ted Ginn Jr. gives us a chance to watch a player play receiver without arms. Ginn is an average kick returner and a below average receiver. I am ready to cut him outright.
*Why hasn't Brian Hartline been getting more chances. This guy made big plays all off-season and continues to do so...
* I am sad that Will Allen is out for the season as he is a great player for us and it is sad to see him go down BUT there is a reason we drafted Sean Smith and Vontae Davis. Vontae Davis is starting to look really good. He will get his chance now and I am confident he will shine.
*Gibril Wilson is this years' Ernest Wilford..
*The three position we need to upgrade is Middle Linebacker, Free Safety, and Wide Reciever. Channing Crowders' bark is much more ferocious than his bite. Did you guys see Mike Bell truck him? Plus that 15 yard penatly he got in the end-zone sealed his fate in my eyes. Gibril Wilson is slow, out of position, and was embarrassed as he rode Jeremy Shockey down the field for 30 yards. I mean was he scared to tackle Shockey? I think Bess, Hartline, and Camarillo are all solid supporting receivers but we need a true #1 receiver.
*Re-Sign Jason Taylor. He is playing at a high level and it's great to see him playing with that fire that made us all love him.
*I didn't really watch much of any other games today but Kudos to Cedric Benson. Dude ran the ball with a violence and passion against the team that gave up on him. The Bengals are for real. My Ravens/Eagles Super-Bowl pick isn't looking so pretty now is it.....
*Next Week we play the Jets without their best defensive player in Kris Jenkins and their best offensive player in Leon Washington. I think we move to 3-4.. Could Matt Roth make his return?... Until Next Week
