Realistic expectations for a first year coach !!

I cant recall any coaches that made a huge impact in their first year coaching. Even the great coaches stuggled in their first year coaching. Jimmy Johnson was 1- 15 his first year, and Belick was fired from his first head coaching job (cleveland). I think an 8 win season would be a huge success. A winning season isn't too much to hope for. It's just too much ask for. Be patient we could be in for another long season.

I'm ok with an 8-8 season. I'll know we're making progress. We'll have won 4 more games than last year. Thats not bad at all.

I am curious if you realistic fans are also realistic during the game too? When we score a TD in the first quarter you are like "eh its only the first quarter, they are a really good team with blah blah blah". And if we win the first game you are like well "15 games to go, well probably not make the playoffs". Can you imagine a whole crowd in the stadium like that? :D It would be quieter than a golf course.

i just hope that the Dolphins don't show themselves up like they did last year.

I think we'll play good football but things will take time, we might lose the close games and I'm sure that there will be a few games that we put everything together.

I can see us getting around 6-8 wins.

Long time fan here too. I would be happy with an 8 - 10 win season this year. I think if we avoid the pre-season injury bug then it is a good time to have that extra exhibition game this year too, it allows more reps with the new systems. That could turn out to be big for the Fins.

I believe that any leader is only as good as the people who surround him, and I think that Saban has a excellant staff of coaches, veterans, and new players. So with that, I will guess that a winning season isn't unreasonable. But I'm ALWAYS hoping for the SB!!!!!

Miami has good for 9-10 wins type talent, but if they do not learn the new defense and Offense well, or have the new player have no chemistry w/ the old, they could be as bad as a 5-6 win team, on the other hand if this team gels fast, and some of the new talent proves to be special, this is an 11-12 win team.

I stick to my prediction, this team will win 10 games this season.

If we are better in December than we have been, that alone could be an extra 2-3 wins!!!!

GRUDEN won the dam super bowl in his 1st year. What was the BUCS record the year before??

Even though we sucked last year, we beat New England here in late December and came less than a touchdown from winning in Baltimore the week after.

One thing you all have to remember, this team was 3-4 under Bates. Granted that is not great and would probably tanslate to a 6-10 or 7-9 season record... but that is a lot better than the 1-8 under Wanny.

With a good coach .500 is not unrealistic at all. Even 9-7, MAYBE (if gods look favorably on us) 10-6 is not out of the question. However, 8-8 is still a more realistic bet. This team will have some growing pains learning the new systems. My point is just to show this team does have the talent to play a lot better than most are giving them credit for.

Miami is a team in complete transition, schematically on both sides of the ball, in terms of coaching staff, and to a large extent personnel.

I'd say 7-8 wins should be the goal, and anything beyond that should make Nick the favorite for Coach of the Year. Think the biggest improvement will come in '06.

This will take some time, but by the same token, I don't see us being pushovers this year either.

I don't think 12-4 is an out of this world prediction. We have the talent....we've had the talent.... now we have someone to put it together CORRECTLY!!!!
