I am tired of all these mock drafts that have us selecting first round draft picks in rounds 1 through 4. We only one first rounder guys and gals.

If we draft a legitimate left tackle I figure that Shelton can switch back to guard, and Toledo can play at the other guard spot. That leaves Alibi and Stevenson at backup. If we picked up a legitimate Center that would leave Hadnot as another backup at center and guard.

So, I figure that QB, LT and C are the must fill positions. I also believe the Phins would be smart to add a quality RB in case Williams doesn't pan out.

So, here goes, here is my REALISTIC first four picks in rounds one through three:

Round 1: Brown (LT) or Quinn (QB) [whichever player falls to us, more likely that Brown does]

Round 2A Stanton (QB) or Staley (LT) [Assuming Quinn was gone, we'll need a QB - if we were lucky enough to get Quinn, we'll need a LT and Brown will be gone by now]

Round 2B Bush or Pittman (RB) [I'm thinking that Bush will be long gone, that leaves Pittman as a possibility as he's a projected second or third rounder]

Round 3Satele, Fry or Datish (C ) [I think all three grade out well and could start for the Phins. Satele is projected 2nd or 3rd, Fry is projected 3rd and Datish is projected 4th]

Round 4, 5 and 6A (DT), (CB) and (TE) [For these three rounds I would select the Best Available Player at these positions of need]

Round 6B BPA if Big Daddy doesn’t retire.

Rd 7A and Rd 7B BPA

That's it. That I think is about the best we can do in our first three rounds and legitimately get starter material. Tell me what you think and tell me how you think you could LEGITIMATELY improve the first four rounds and plug some of the many holes this team has.

GO PHINS~!

Try this on for size.

1- Leon Hall
2- Justin Blalock
2- Craig Davis WR
3- Paul Soliai
4- Kevin Kolb
6- DE/OLB
6- OT
7- TE
7- MLB

It follows your philosophy of expected picks and basically covers all the bases.

We don't need a RB that early, I'm all for drafting one in the later rounds but definately not that early.

Satele's stock is also dropping fast, so careful with drafting him in the 3rd.

Blalock dropping to 2A would be one of the best things that can happen in the draft for Miami but as of right now it's pretty unlikely. I think Kalil might be a bit more realistic.

Other way around according to most my friend. Kalil checked in at a legit 300lbs, pretty much getting rid of his only weakness.

We could take the middle ground there and say Ben Grubbs...

Kolby Smith in the 4th? I'd rather do that and try and get someone like ABiamiri, Crowder or Woodley in the 2nd.

I don't think those selections fill the right slots. You don't have a quality QB, a LT or a C on the list and that's where Phins need the most help. (Unless Soliai is a QB or LT that could start, I don't know who that is). I like Kolb (I live in Louisville) but I don't think he's gonna be a starter in the NFL or a star like Bush or Pittman might be.

Kolb's a quarterback and Ben Grubbs fills the need at LG. Alabi is expected to start at LT with Hadnot at C. Your thinking of Kolby Smith aren't you?

Yeah, was thinking of Kolby Smith, Cards fan, what can I say... and I really really hope that Hadnot isn't starting at C again.

Damn you Jaj, why do you have to have such a good mock. I like mine more, but yours is really good too (day one at least).

Yours is good.

Not much of a second day to discuss:sidelol:

I could fill in a little bit but includes basically a couple linebackers who could slide basically to back up Taylor and Thomas (not eventual replacements, just depth).

One offensive tackle for Houck to work with and just a tight end to compete for the third spot.

It's really tough to predict that far. For example I had no idea Rodrique Wright would be there in 06.

That is what I was thinking as well. My preferred draft as of right now is something like:

1. Laron Landry
2a. Blaylock/Khalil/Grubbs (Drew Stanton would also be nice here)
2b. Zach Miller or Lamar Woodley
3. WR (depending on how many go in the 1st I would not be surprised to see a 2nd round grade guy fall to us here)

And yes, I agree with the others that taking a RB in the 2nd is way too early. There are so many more pressing and future needs than backup RB.

See my round 6 are just guys I thought fit the Houck mold (which Boomer later confirmed). Round 7, I picked 'planet theory' guys that CK talked about after the combine. Like in his top 10 overall performances.

I had us getting Bazuin and Hill instead of a QB though.
