I always fight with myself by wanting to put out a mock of players I like and would like to get but they are not the players this front office would pick. So I thought this was a realistic mock and one I would be very happy with. Also threw in some picks if they dropped come draft day (a la Phillip Merling)

1st Round (25): Robert Ayers, SOLB, Tennessee- 6'3" 273#
Will compete with and push Roth for the starting SOLB spot. Provides a great rush opposite Porter (and hopefully Wake in the future). Parcells loves big LB's and this guys is really coming on strong lately with his performance in the Senior Bowl and that week. Our version, and a better one in the future, of LaMarr Woodley. And if you think I'm over-drafting here ask CK where he should go
Pick if he drops: Andre Smith, RT/RG, Alabama

2nd Round (44): Jarron Gilbert, DE, San Jose St- 6'5" 285#
In the 3-man rotation with Merling and Langford, especially if Holliday gets cut. Can never have enough quality 3-4 DE. Those three will be here for a long time
Pick if he drops: James Laurinaitis, ILB, Ohio State
Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma State
Lesean McCoy, RB, Pitt

2nd Round(56): Jairus Byrd, CB, Oregon- 6' 205#
Although I want Sean Smith with the 44th pick, I don't know if he'll be there and if they'll take the the chance with the CB/S tweener although I feel he could be a top 5 NFL CB one day with his athletic attributes and his ****iness. Byrd's a good CB who I think could end up starting and pushing Goodman into the nickel spot by the end of the year
Pick if he drops: Alex Mack, C, Cal

3rd Round(87): Eric Wood, C, Louisville- 6'3" 305#
I don't really see him going in the 2nd round like some mocks I've seen. He'll come in and compete with an improved Satele for the center position
Pick if he drops: Rashad Jennings, RB, Liberty

4th Round(122): Austin Collie, WR, BYU- 6'2" 205#
Although he's a little older, he's a tough WR and Boomer had some real praise for him in his Sun-Sentinel third blog. A good competitor to have in your WR corps

5th Round(153): Jasper Brinkley, ILB, South Carolina- 6'2" 265#
Ideally I'd like to drop down and pick up two 6th rounders or something. Some might consider this a reach but he's a legit ILB starter as early as this year and I don't think he'll be around in the 7th.
Pick if he drops: David Bruton, FS, Notre Dame

7th Round(197): Gartrell Johnson, RB, Colorado State- 5'11" 220#
We need to pick a RB and it was him or Mike Goodson out of Texas A&M. Tough runner and quality depth

7th Round(215): Trimane Goddard, FS, UNC- 6' 195#
He's a very good FS prospect, and a late round steal. Should start in year 2-3

7th Round(220): Myron Pryor, NT, Kentucky- 6'1" 310#
Parcells and Co. like to take late round DT and train them into NT. He's a good run-stuffer who can also get after the QB

Undrafted: Dallas Reynolds, C/OG/OT, BYU- Poor man's Max Unger
Nate Ness, FS, Arizona

I've been on Robert Ayers for a while now. I once had us taking him with our top 2nd round pick but adjusted it because I think he will end up being a 1st round pick. I live in Dawg Country (Athens, GA) and follow the SEC closely. Robert Ayers is a straight beast who causes havoc in the backfield. I would not be disappointed one bit if his name is called at #25. I don't know a lot about the Gilbert kid, but I do like Byrd if hes around at that spot in the 2nd. I've had many opportunities to watch Jasper Brinkley as well and he'd be an absolute steal in the 5th. Solid Mock.

solid job, but I find it hard to believe that as 3-4 pass rushers go I think there will be better options then Ayers. Personally, English, Maybin, Sintim, Cushing and Matthews are higher on my board and atleast 1 would be available by the time we pick. I'm very high on Gilbert and it is definately a pick the FO would make, but I'd much rather take a guy of better value there...

Not a fan of the number one, but the others are interesting. Gartrell Johnson is a beast of a runner. He could replace Polite as our short yardage specialist. I wouldn't be upset with Gilbert, Wood, Collie and Brinkley where you have them.

excellent mock. the one thing i would do would draft a S, hopefully Delmas or Anderson, with our 2A. Gilbert would give us an amazing yound DE rotation, but S is a much more pressing need. I would then maybe take a 7 round DE and an OT for depth. Other than that, good stuff.

Some of Boomer's comments on players in this mock from his Sun-Sentinel blog:

Miami Nice: Robert Ayres – Tennessee – Senior.
This is one of the fastest rising prospects in the draft. A guy with textbook size – 6’3, 273 – he’s an inch smaller and a pound heavier than Shawne Merriman was at the 2005 Combine. Merriman of course, is a player that Parcells greatly coveted at that years draft. He’s a good athlete, with a long frame, great width and the ability to get off blocks. He’s played some linebacker for the Vols and despite only starting a year, flashed big time potential. He was charged with aggravated assault as a freshman but has, according to numerous reports turned his life around from that point. He’s another who could easily find his way into the first round because his upside is very high. With regards Miami, you could be looking at a 3-4 OLB, although I suspect the one year of starting might be an issue.

Don't Sleep On: Jarron Gilbert – San Jose State – Senior.
The internet phenomenon; anyone who’s seen his YouTube video where he jumps out of a swimming pool, can’t help but be impressed with his lower body explosion:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXDSPbZ_OUw

It’s not as impressive as Bo Jackson’s back flip out of waist high swimming pool water after a McAdory High School party to celebrate winning the county championship, but it’s close. At 6'5" and 287 pounds, Gilbert can also be seen online squatting 635 pounds, and dead lifting 655 pounds, so strength wise he’s a beast. He played at DT during the season for San Jose State, finishing up with 22.0 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks to go with 52 tackles which is mightily impressive. But his frame looks maxed out to me and whilst he has explosion off the ball, there are rumours that he only runs in the 5.2 area, which might inhibit a move to end, but what he does possess is the aforementioned strength at the point and a willingness to keep working throughout the play with his pass rush, where he displays a wide array of moves. You could easily see him at DT with the Colts, but I suspect he ends up at defensive end. Questions remain about his work ethic or lack thereof but he’s rising up the boards and I have a good friend who scouts players who believes Gilbert will end up in the first round.

Don't Sleep On: Austin Collie - BYU - Junior.
The sort of guy that opposing teams will hate because he has a sense of arrogance about his game. Not a burner by any stretch of the imagination, but he has terrific hands and runs the best routes of any WR in the class save perhaps for Hakeem Nicks. Why? Because he has good feet, great body control and he also possesses something that few wide outs have; an innate ability to work back to the QB both on broken plays and indeed on regular throws so that corners can't jump routes and pick balls off. Like I said last week, he gave my #1 rated CB Sean Smith some fits early in 2008.

Don't Sleep On: Jasper Brinkley – South Carolina – Senior.
Never going to win any beauty contests or athletic ability challenges, but if you’re looking for a late round banger, look no further. He had a dramatic impact as a JUCO transfer before tearing up his knee and last year he seemed to have lost some of that fluidity that stood out on film. But as a ILB in a 3-4, especially playing alongside a more athletic type, a cover guy – Kevin Burnett for example – I could easily see Brinkley having a big time NFL future for a team like Miami.
