Just wondering what some of you are thinking of some good trade possibilities for the Fins. We all know that Crayton - Beck - Williams rumor. What else would you think could be brewing? Here are my thoughts...

1) Trade Joey Porter - Is now the time to shop him after an outstanding start? He could warrant a 1st round pick for a team desperate for a pass rusher. We could also leverage the money saved by dealing him to resign Vernon Carey next year. While the Fins would be worse off this season, another #1 pick could help the rebuilding project immensely. Charlie Anderson would have to step up and see if he could fill the huge void this year. Remember the Tuna said nobody was off limits other than Jake. I would be on the fence if I was the GM to make this move if I had a partner. Tough call.

2) Trade John Beck - With the teams needing QB's now, especially Dallas, you would think a young 2nd round pick with some starts would be sought after. I would take a 4th or a decent player in return. The reality is that John Beck will be a 3rd stringer only in Miami for some time to come. Time to make a deal for something is now. If not now, then when?

3) Trade Ricky Williams - Do you think any team would give up a 3rd? I highly doubt it but Ricky comes cheap for the talent he brings to the table and he is somebody we could afford to lose for the right price. While talent wise he may be worth a 2nd, I doubt anyone would give up more than a 5 for him. We will likely keep him until he retires...which will be as soon as Miami waves the 8m hanging over his head... :)

4) Trade Channing Crowder - He is in his contract year. If the trifecta does not plan on resigning him, then I would rather take the hit this year and get something than just let him go. I would hope we could get a 3 if it came to this. While I hope we can resign him, Torbor is a very capable backup at a much cheaper price. Remember, our big free agents are Crowder and Carey next year and we may try to convice Roy Williams to come to South Florida in the offseason. That is a lot of cap space that will be needed for all 3. If I had to make a choice, I would take Carey and Williams and move Crowder.

5) Trade Vernon Carey - Same argument as for Crowder. If you are not going to resign him, then get something for him before he leaves. That being said, I would really hate to let him go. I like the look of our offensive line and keeping Carey is a big part of it. Hopefully he will not want top 5 kind of money. Franchising him is also a possibility I guess. If we would trade him, I would want a 1 or a 2, nothing less.

Other than those players, not sure who on our team has enough youth or talent to make an impact in a trade. Will Allen does but our secondary is too weak to consider it. All of the above players (minus Beck) would really hurt us this year but if the Trifecta plays it right, could end up helping us in years to come.

As for us getting a player, Lito Shephard or Roy Williams sure would look nice in aqua and orange. That being said, like the Tuna, I place great value on my draft picks and I would not give them up unless it was definitely in our favor. For example, I would take Roy Williams for a 3 in heartbeat if I knew he was willing to play and stay in Miami for a reasonable contract. While that may seem low for his talent, if Detroit does not move him and they do not want him, then they get nothing come next year.

I am sure there are other intriguing trades out there as well. My personal criteria is do not trade for something that benefits us short term but not the long term...ie...talented but old vets. I am also willing to sacrifice wins this season for more wins 2 years down the road. How about you?

Porters contract would be terrible to trade. We'd be paying him a lot of money to play for someone else.

No one will give a 3rd for Ricky. hes too old.

Beck, maybe for a 7th or 6th at best.

Crowder and Carey - No one trades for a guy in a contract year.

First off, Porter, Crowder and Carey are a big part of why Miami has 2 wins so far this year. All 3 are playing great with Porter having a pro bowl year so far. No one will trade for porter given his age and salary. Carey is one of the best RT in the game. Why would you want to trade him? And Crowder has been doing a good job this year. He's no Zack but he's much improved and I think will continue to get better. As for Ricky, why would Miami trade him right now? He's got a really low salary and is one of the best 2nd string RBs.

I wouldn't make any of those moves right now, this team has a little chemistry going, you want to kill it?

Remember folks, I am just posting our possible chips to use in a trade. I would love to keep everyone mentioned minus Beck. That being said, if you could get a 1st rounder for Porter, I think I would take it. Likewise, if you are the Trifecta and you know you are not interested in resigning Crowder or Carey, then I look to deal them as well.

As for forgetting Ronnie, that may be true, but like Jake, he is untradeable in my book. I only included the trades that I thought would make some sense even though they might be hard to swallow in the short term.

Any other ideas out there? Think outside the box.

the only realistic trade I see happening is Beck.Adam Schefter is reporting that the Phins are indeed shopping him...

So what if next year were right in the thick of things for the division and the only thing were missing is guy like Porter to pressure the QB, to be a leader and be great at your job.
People were crying Porter wasn't doing enough last year, and now that he's dominating let's trade him ???????

I know I will get ribbed for this thought but Pennington has some value right now, if indeed the orginization is rebuilding can you not now get something for nothing. We got Penny cheap with only a two year contract, and everyone wants Henne, I don't think Henne is ready, but there are some teams that think they can make a push now that would give big for Penny. I know this is not probable but just throwing it out there.

Beck and Ginn packaged with a 5th round pick for Roy Williams.

We get a #1 WR we need and Detroit gets a QB to back up Kitna, a young WR to groom to take Williams spot on the depth chart and a 5th round pick to help their rebuilding process. Everyone wins.

Beck for a back up o-line. yes please, but we would be lucky to get that.

Trade Mount Vernon away??? The o-line would become pretty bad. Then we might as well trade Ronnie Brown, Will Allen, and every other decent player that would cause a big cap hit.

I like the thought. Give me a #1 or even a #2 pick from a desparate team, then I would move him. Like Welker, that would be a totally free top pick that could bring us a player like Satele. I would miss Chad though.

As for the Chad Henne remark, I enjoy your sarcasm. Henne is another untradeable just like Jake and Ronnie. We don't have many of those.

Finally Beck, Ginn and a 5 for Roy Williams...How about throwing Hagan in that instead? I would like to keep Ginn to see if he can develop with a true #1. Then again, if that deal was available with Ginn in it, I would do it.
