And for the record, I've NEVER heard more people try to discredit Brian Xander in my life. He's under constant attack.

HOWEVER, I'm told Brian Xander's technological approach to talent evaluation (Moneyball-esque) is ground breaking. But not "a people person"

All Dolphins need is a GM who can build a team through the draft by maximizing his picks, and not overspending in free agency. Xander did it

Farmer seems like a good "people person". If we could tab Farmer as GM, and get Xanders as a VP of Personnel, that would be awesome.

I'm told that Brian Xander is not sitting in on player interviews with the Detroit Lions, his present team. Read into it whatever you'd like

I'm told that Ray Farmer and Brian Xander have a close relationship from their time together in Atlanta. Again, WE SHALL SEE.

Rumor is that is the plan

Couldn't the Lions block this though, if it's a lateral move? His title now is Sr. Personnel Dir for Lions. I'm not too sure I understand all the rules regarding this type of thing. That might throw a wrench into this possible plan.

If Omar likes Xander, that's enough reason for me to be skeptical.

:idk:

They could, but there are a few rumors.

1)Martin Mayhew and his staff were not fans of the system Xanders was brought in to get started

2)Mayhew and Farmer are really good friends dating back to their time in Atlanta together

3) Xanders isn't meeting with players with Detroit's staff

If the Fords' really wanted to block him they could (and they reportedly love his approach despite Mayhew not) so it's all speculation

Interesting, thanks for the info. I don't see how they could be unhappy with him. They wanted his system/approach, he came in - they had a pretty good draft. In this scenario, where does Gaine fit in? Same role as asst GM?

Pretty much, it's been widely reported Ross doesn't want to lose Gaine.

Seems like a lot of cooks in the kitchen in this scenario
Lots of teams have smart people advising them.

Seattle has former San Fran Gm Mcgloughan advising them
Philly has Gamble as a GM in waiting.
San Fran brought in Mangini after Gamble left.
NE has former Titans GM floyd reece advising them.

Xanders is the one that worked with Farmer in Atlanta and apparently they are good friends.
Mayhew is also familiar with Xanders because they both played under Bobby Bowen together.

Fits with my theory they are cooking up a front office dream team.
