Really sad and deeply disappointing (yet another blown season)

It's been a damn farce and a joke for decades. I'm not sure how this team keep blowing rebuilds. I wish I had an answer, but I'm not on the payroll over here.
I have the answer we seem to do things half ass and we have been a 50% team for too long that is why. translation when we were bad offensively we were good defensively and vice versa the real thing is we really haven't put a great offense on the field in a long time plus it seems to me that the Phins create more holes they fill and instead of fixing one side at a time we try to fix the mess with either all f/a and very little draft picks we must fix one side of the ball and stop wasting draft picks.

How realistic is it to assume we could get a new GM from one of those locations?
It seems unlikely to me.
not unrealistic at all.....I'm talking about an assistant to the GM that would get a promotion with us as the GM

Agreed that it is unlikely. Generally speaking, no high quality, in demand GM candidate wants to waste what may be their only shot at the job on a team that they can’t mold. Perhaps if Miami hadn’t given so many unnecessary and unwarranted extensions, tying up so much money, the job would be far more enticing. We have seen more than one GM candidate over the years wait an extra year or two for a better situation to open up before taking a job.

This team has cap issues, they are tied to their QB with no realistic way out without further compounding those issues, draft pick outside of the top 5, they are an older roster (not that the difference between the oldest and youngest team is massive, but we all know how suddenly players tend to trend downwards in this league after a certain age, so those 2.5 years make a difference) and Miami hasn’t seemed to be a desirable organization to work for amongst individuals with options over the last 2 decades.

Like others stated, I did not have high expectations going into the season because of the leadership issues with the Dolphins. I do not understand how Owner Steven Ross is successful in his business ventures. If he ran his corporations like he operates the Miami Dolphins, he would be destitute! Perhaps, he views the success of the Dolphins not upon the wins or losses, but by the increased valuation of the team. Please Mr. Ross, get rid of Grier and the rest of his minions and build this franchise back to greatness.

He's in real estate which requires patience and foresight which is why i think he's not quick to pull the trigger on situations.
For someone that isn't really into the day to day of the football operations, he did seem to smell out obtuse decisions at least a few times:
1) Trading for Kyle Orton when Ireland is here
2) Taking Fitzpatrick instead of trading back or taking Lamar
3) The whole Deshaun Watson debacle
The problem is the structure of the team where everyone on the football side reports to Grier and then Grier reports to him. Of course Grier is going to put his own narrative on the issue.
Maybe that works in something arbitrarily analytical like real estate, but not in running a professional sports franchise.

They can turn it around quick. If we get an OL or someone who knows how to start an OL. We can just spend money and late round picks on defense.

I think FH agrees Barry has improved the OL. wonder what he could do with quality talent.

A lot of his sacks and pressures are a result of scheme, Campbell and Poyer both chip blocked his guy freeing him up this past week to get to the QB.

every top sacker gets sacks from scheme. Not all sacks. Not saying that. But I've seen a lot of games with top pass rushers and all of them do stunts, twists, . . . The key point is a lot of players are schemed to gt to the QB. Some get more sacks than others. That takes talent.

I think Brewer is a keeper for a Center in a zone scheme. Paul not enough evidence, Armstead is too expensive + oft-injured, Jones has been here a long time as a starter and Jackson. Not so sure about either of those last 2, but I do know I have seen enough of Eich. He needs a fresh start elsewhere, probably becomes a ProBowler 🤣

There are only 32 of these jobs in the world. In addition you have an owner that has proven to be unreasonably patient with his GMs.

Someone will bite

Paul is starting to become a beast. He had a 70 something grade against great pass rushers on Texans. IN HIS SECOND START. we might be set at LT guys and gals. Sooo C and LT are a lock. How do we feel about RT, LGand RG?

Your analysis is fair. what we all know is every team has 3-4 average to poor OLmen and do well. Some seem to think Miami needs 5 All-Pro OLmen. AJax and Brewer fit being 'good.' but not All-Pro. Agree on Paul, but fans don't see him every day. I hope he gets more snaps so FH can see what he has. If he can be 'average,' that's only 2 GLARING needs (OGs)

Of course someone will. But this team needs someone who is more than just someone who is just happy to take the job. Ross’ willingness to be patient is exactly why it is appealing to someone who isn’t in high demand. They know they are going to be rewarded handsomely and given time, even if they are incompetent.

Meanwhile, an individual who is highly in demand can wait for the job they think is the right fit, even if it means waiting out a hiring cycle or two, because they know their time will come and there will always be openings after every season.

We good with Austin Jackson

Just better guard play

I agree with what you're saying, it's how we ended up picking between Kellen Moore and McDaniel last coaching hire. We were McDaniel's only interview and Moore still hasn't been hired as a HC, though that may change soon. The reality was no one with opportunities really wanted to work with Grier after he got the previous two coaches canned.

I don't think it's as dire of a situation as it's perceived at the moment, McDaniel was pretty well respected around the league before he took this job, someone will want to work with him.

I don’t think it’s necessarily dire, I just get the sense that it’s not the preferred destination for GM’s with options. I do think if Ross offers total control along with a bucket of money, that changes things as far as who he can woo to Miami. But I think it has to be real total control to build a team with the vision the GM has in mind, without interference.
