so, out of 3 years worth of drafts, we only got 3 good picks. 3 out of 20 I listed up there.

This is why we are where we are. We still need to make up for those years of pissed poor draft picks.

In 2006, why does it say saban foreited the 5th round pick? That doesn't make any sense.

Im not saying thats wrong, I just dont know why that would happen or how.

What has Vontae Davis proven and why do you only go to the 4th round?

2008 Draft Class :

1st round : Jake Long, good pick ??????????????????? Not at all!!!! I would trade Long for Clady (LT of the Borncos) in a heartbeat!!!
2nd round : Phillip Merling, ? (This was a good one, and I think he will get better)
2nd round : Chad Henne, unproven
3rd round : Kendall Langford, ? (SOLID PICK)
4th round : Shawn Murphy, ?
You are missing Donald Thomas (VERY SOLID PICK)

2009 Draft Class :

1st round : Vontae Davis, good pick (To early, we will see next year)
2nd round : Pat White, unproven
3rd round : Sean Smith, good pick (The same as Vontae Davis)
3rd round : Patrick Turner, unproven (Seems like a bad pcik)
4th round : Brian Hartline, unproven (Seems lika a good pick)

What we need is a drafting guru like Jimmy Johnson, I am tired to see that our last amazing players all came from that regimen, Taylor, Thomas, Surtain and Madison. Remember when we used to have Madison, Surtain and Buckley on the secondary? With Marion and Walker (That was amazing???) Now we have two of the most over-rated safeties and two young CB that are very unexperienced, and when a QB choose to go against your "talented" veteran CB (Will Allen) you know you are in trouble!!!

The only good points is that it seems like our Running offense and our running defense are solid. But then again you have to wonder how much is due to the fact that on ofense is not because of the OL but because we use the Wildcat (which I like), and on defense to the fact that WR's and TE's have fantasy weeks when they play vs our secondary.

To me the solution is simple, be patient, because this is going to get uglier, before it gets entertaining.

maybe that is a good idea. We need to hire Jimmy Johnson to help draft

I know he doesn't want to be a coach anymore, but maybe if we overpay him and give him luxuries, he can be our draft team

Notwithstanding the other problems......Why would you put a ? next to Kendall Langford? He has been a starter at DE for us since he was drafted in the 3rd round, is a good run stopper, is starting to improve his pass rush, and was one of the bright spots against the Chargers.

Jason Allen is not a bust. He got moved from position to position for 4 years and now he has finally settled in. He is our best special teams player/tackler. When he comes in on defense, he shines.

This post is good and outlines the real problems facing our franchise. Some just don't understand the horrible shape our roster is in and wonder why a lot of us were fine with a "limited" QB still making it competitive. Even if Henne develops nicely, we still have pretty much nothing in place for long-term success.

Nothing in place for long-term success? You can't be serious.

Name something that is, besides a coaching staff that I still trust, a potential franchise LT, two running backs where both of them might be out of here in two years, and a couple of ok but not gamebreaking defensive lineman. Let's face it, we don't have a plethora of young talent here to lean on. We have young, but the talent part is in question at a lot of places. I think Davis and Smith could step up to be nice CB's perhaps, but we don't have a single defensive stalwart that we can count on to dominate a game. Our middle linebacker is fricking Channing Crowder, who was caught chasing bunnies on the sideline again while the QB waltez right up the middle of the field for a TD.

This roster stinks and only a succesion of good drafts is going to fix that.

You have got to be kidding. So we paid a Special Teams player a $16mil contract? Any way you slice that he is a bust. He was brought in to be a starter! Another reason why our Satan could not stand the heat and bolted for Alabama.
