I know many people on this forum believe that DC will be starting the season or even coming back with in the first 2-3 games. I've noticed the optimism about him starting, however, I disagree with this assumption. Personally, I do not want Culpepper to start the season. The injury he sustained takes at least a year to recover from. We all know that he's rehab is going very well, however, no Doctors give any type of optimism like many are assuming. He may be at an "A+" in regard to his rehab, but that doesn't translate into an opening day start, or even a week three start. I personally don't want to see Daunte rushed due to the fact that he is our chance at a superbowl in the near future. The quarterback position is an astronomically important position to fill, and recently, good quarterbacks win championships. I'm concerned with having a long time contender; have patience guys. We haven't been to a superbowl since the year before I was born. We're moving in the right direction and I don't want to see our franchise qb ruin his knee before we even get a chance to see what he can really do.

good post and think we all can agree, we'd rather a 100% Cpep, than a liability Cpep..

And we'd rather have a long term CPep than a reinjured CPep.

Just out of curiousity, what are your medical qualifications or, at the very least, where are you getting your medical information from? It would greatly strengthen your argument if you would state this. If you are correct that Culpepper faces undue greater risk of reinjury if he comes back the first week, then I would agree that it would probably be best to hold him out until that risk is lessened.

I would personally feel more comfortable if he were to play after a couple weeks, just to insure that he is at 100%. I really think if he's to start game 1, he's rushing it. He should just take more time and come back in October. If we can land Harrington, I think we can manage the first quarter of the season with him. Or even more if we have to. Let's just get Daunte healthy.

I just think if we are putting our hopes on Harrington we are in trouble. He's a sloppy QB, he's not an upgrade from anybody we had.

If Culpepper is ready to go he starts and plays. I'm not saying rushing him back or anything like that.....but, if he is ready he should start.

you spelled patience wrong

Thanks, I'm suprised you would point something like that out with the terrible spelling/grammar of many board members here. I never claimed to be the greatest speller in the world.
