Reasons to like/dislike Peyton as top choice for Miami Dolphins

peyton manning gets rid of the ball to quick to get hit. how bout that?

and another thing. Flynn knowing our system. What is our system???? Philbin said we are not going to just plop Green Bays offense down here in Miami. So Flynn is going to have to learn the system we design. Likely to be similar, but in their own image. Its not a blanket statement that is absolute.

Coach Joe Philbin understands that Dolphins' roster is different from Packers' and he wants to installs the most fitting schemes for his players. It's a characteristic approach of WCO derivations. They're based on short to medium range passes where the passer seeks the guy with best chances to obtain yards after catch.

So when Joe explains he can't plop GB offense down here in Miami, he's saying he'll take the baseline of that offense (that is a WCO derivation) and customize for Dolphins' roster. So Flynn knows the foundations and is in great position to adopt the changes.

You aimed to the center of the bull's eye, and you scored in a big way.
What if Peyton lose some of his ability to get rid of the football as quickly as he used to throw?
Well Manning has been pointed as unable to turn his neck with normality, causing him to lose his famous vision of the field. So he could need extra time to deliver, limiting his trademark quick style.

Those reports are being spread by Manning's friends and agent. There they say that some anonymous doctor says he'll be fine.

It's a fact he won't recover 100% of his original mobility, and it's pretty possible his throwing arm is going to be prone to injuries.

You know this from where? Your a**?

Pros: Way cool to have a Canton QB. If healthy, We'll always be in the game & probably make the playoffs.

Cons: Band-aid to sell tickets & still looking for long-term QB. We'll be drafting low, will slow the rebuild & make it tough to get a QB next year.

I'd be happy to have Manning. We'll have some fun/competitive times. Drafting lower probably won't be any worse than our "higher" drafts the last decade ... and that's a fact!!

I like he is one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game.

I dislike he is old and injured.

If he becomes a Dolphin I'm excited to see what happens and hope for the best.

What I hope happens, I don't think it will, but what I hope is he signs with the Colts and the Dolphins trade up for Luck.

Everyone knows that Manning is not the long term solution so I never understand why people keep using that as a con. It's a known fact that he would be here to give us 2, maybe 3 years to restore some eliteness to the franchise and give a young guy time to develop. There is no better option to make us immediate contenders while setting a foundation for the future. Option B is grab Flynn and wait out his first year to get comfortable, and maybe hope he can do something amazing in that year.........long shot but what else is there to do?

some things not being considered in all of the Manning discussions are his ability to pick up the WCO (I think that is a no brainer with his film room love), his ability to create cohesion with the receiving corps (this takes time but if Wayne or Garcon signs too, that helps) but I see this an issue depending on how long it takes for Manning to get to the point where he can actually be throwing like a starting QB again. 3rd issue is that Manning is used to "running" the offense, not having the OC or HC actually running it. will Philbin and Sherman be willing to let Manning run the offense, which if they are might mean they aren't running the WCO but what Manning was used to in Indy.

these are 3 issues that would have to be viewed prior to make any commitments to Manning.

I know his situation and I think that obviously it will look and feel "normal" but I highly doubt he'll ever be what he once was. For example, for all of the patients who have had similar surgeries for every two or three that say they have had 100% recovery, you'll have one who's situation didn't get better or got worse. Yet all of them were told they were going to fully recover

That's not the point. The point is that his neck is no more at risk than any other player. Regaining the feeling and being able to throw the ball 100% is a different issue. He may not be the same ever again and there is more of a chance that he won't be the same, but it's been confirmed that his neck fully healed and he is no more at risk than any other player.
