Miami Dolphins: Because absolutely nobody’s talking about the Dolphins. And that’s the way they like it.
Coming into the 2008 season, the Dolphins had a new coach, a new front office and a new starting quarterback. Fresh off a 1-15 season, no one expected much. Sure enough, Chad Pennington (now an analyst on FOX!) carried the offense and an inspired D helped lead Miami to the division title. This year? Jim Harbaugh was supposed to be the coach and Kyle Orton or Carson Palmer the QB. Not quite. Coach Tony Sparano and QB Chad Henne are back. No one’s expecting much from the ‘Fins, but they’ve got a new 1-2 running back combination, a sturdy defense and a chip on their collective shoulders. Déjà vu all over again? Maybe this squad can go even further than that one

Personally, I love it when someone tells me I can not do something, that way when I shove the fact that they were flat wrong back down their throat I don't have to sugar coat it.

I would hope that is the way this squad feels about the press they are receiving this year.

I agree. I always see people saying that we get no respect in the media and my reaction is that I would prefer it that way. We don't need respect, we need to win, and I mean like...win it all. We can talk about respect after the SB. Otherwise, it's all just words.

it's becoming harder to win without a top-notch QB every year. that's just the way the NFL works these days. we're good enough to take on anyone on any given sunday, but i don't think we're consistent enough to be a legit contender. unfortunately

not only that its almost impossible to win multiple road playoff games on the road let alone a super bowl on top of that without a top notch QB

If you get homefield you might be able to squeek by with a so-so QB, if you gotta win a road game or two then a super bowl...not gonna happen without a top flight QB. Rodgers did it last year. He is top flight. Eli in 2007 he is borderline top flight. Big Ben has done it. He is top flight.

Look at Sanchez (not top flight) and others, they might win 1 or even 2 road playoff games, but they can only go so far.

Though wildcat was a major factor in winning the AFC East in 2008, we won that division due to improved quarterback play from Pennington. He finished 2nd in quarterback rating, and was smart and judicious with the ball. Henne has to improve a great deal for us to even sniff a Superbowl run. I have been thinking about this years team and the team from 3 years ago. The expectations for us are very low right now, we're being written off to compete in our division, and I'm getting some "Why not us?" vibes again, except they feel more justified this year as opposed to the last 2.

This is a team full of hungry/angry players who are ready to prove everyone, maybe even the fans, wrong. Can't wait for opening day!

One thing I do know, is, you never know. Just because something is unlikely does not mean it is impossible.

How about winning a few home games ... that's OUR superbowl moment!!

Talk to me when we can beat the Bills, Browns and Lions at home with the playoffs on the line. Or when we don't finish a season going 0-3 in our last three games. Or when our home field actually becomes an advantage, instead of a vacation spot for opposing teams. Or when our head coach grows a set of balls, and stops playing not to lose.

A number of teams have won the Superbowl with a care taker at QB. Defense wins championships!
