We have a made commitment in certain areas that we have to continue to be patient with. Given their age, and I hate to say it, remaining potential, DC, RB, RMc, CC have to remain as starters. We are not in a position that we can afford to use high draft picks on these positions no matter how exciting the pick, e.g. Russell, Ginn jnr etc. JA, DH, MR, CCrowder, and TD as nickel all have to live up to the investment in them and must start. Bell deserves one year as a starter. In FA either Briggs or Clements/Samuel has to be picked up but only one of them. We have to create a healthy cap situation ongoing and do this through the draft. The DL is ancient and if JT does retire, non-existent. If he is traded, which I doubt(but I wish him the best if he does go) then we should have a another first round pick and I would be happy with that. If trading down is an option, better again. If we do have 4 or 5 first day picks we can begin a proper rebuilding period. There is no way to predict how the draft goes. It always throws you a curveball every year but we have to draft for need and for youth. Depending on FA then, I think we have to stockpile these picks and draft, OT, DT, DE and OLB/CB depending on the free agent situation. Drafting linemen is not very exciting but completely necessary and if the organisation can draft well in the next three years we can then have realistic hopes of a championship. One last point. I will be disgusted if we do not begin to sort out the secondary in FA. It was a disgrace this season!

if you can get value for a guy like JT or Zach, and I mean first-round picks, then you unload them (unless the salary cap hit is too outrageous, and I don't know if it would be). If you can't, I see no reason to trade them for the sake of it.

I'm also a big fan of drafting the best guy available. The worst case scenario is you have two amazing players at the same position, and you can generally trade a great young player after a season or two for more than the first-round pick you got him with. So if an Adrian Peterson mysteriously fell to #9, I would draft him, even though I am a huge Ronnie Brown fan. It's certainly a controversial draft philosophy, but the best one long-term (at least in my opinion)

I agree with you with regard trading either of the two lads. I should have stated that I would only trade JT for a 1st round pick and only if he requested a trade to a contender as he deserves it. As does Zach but as you say I doubt we would get value for him.

With regard drafting BPA, yeah, it's a tricky one. I just think that because we have such gaping holes in some key starting positions we should address those now. I have to say though, I would definitely not use the 9th pick on Peterson. If we didn't have Ronnie, and the possible return of Ricky, I would love to get him because I love backs with blistering pace but I think it would be too much of a luxury. If I did a mock draft, I think I would go for Gaines Adams.

The cap situation is definately in dire need of some longer term attention.

I think the Eagles are a model example of how to do this.
