I think Marshall is proven, and that begs the question that you are signing a guy in his prime to a team that isn't going to win a playoff game in the near future. But Ireland is selling that like any organization would. But truth be told, this team is re-creating. To re-build implies you rebuild something that was good prior to. This is a creation mode. The Dolphins haven't found a success mode in a long time and one has to be created, which in this case involves an offense (WCO) that hasn't been present in Miami (to my knowledge). The tough part here is you have a relatively competent defense who has to watch the other side of the ball be created, leaving them with the bag. Think of the defense as General Lee's rear guard defending his retreat from Gettysburg shortly after Pickett's charge (one of the all time military disasters). I like Marshall and want guys like him, but to create will require blowing up what is already there. Maybe that is why Wake isn't getting a new contract.
