Here's the last few years of players taken at #16:

1995 Hugh Douglas, DE, NYJ
1996 Duane Clemons, DE, Min
1997 Reidel Anthony, WR, TB
1998 Kevin Dyson, WR, Ten
1999 Jevon Kearse, DE, Ten
2000 Julian Peterson, LB, SF
2001 Santana Moss, WR, NYJ
2002 William Green, RB, Cle
2003 Troy Polamalu, S, Pit
2004 Shawn Andrews, OL, Phi
2005 Travis Johnson, DL, Hou

Overall, some very solid pro-bowl caliber players... :dolphins:
Green is a bust.
Too early to say about Andrews (injury) and Johnson (rookie).

Saban will do his homework and get us a stud....or trade down a few spots to get Cutler.

I assume you mean trade UP a few spots to get Cutler, since he's probably going in the top 10.

But I don't think "trading up" is Saban's M.O.
He'd have to give up too much to do that.

What do you guys think about this list as an example of what we can expect from the #16 pick???

I think it does a good job keeping our expectations realistic.
Lots of good players there, but also a few busts.

Looks like hit an miss to me, Anthony stunk, Dyson was nothing special.

All draft picks are hit or miss. This one looks more hit than miss though. Yeah Anthony was really bad.

So we've figured out that some picks hit and some picks miss. This is shocking news.

It's not "news" dude. What crawled up your butt and made a home???

It's just interesting to see the type of talent taken at #16 in recent years.

Sheesh..... :shakeno:

I'm pretty sure Saban will pick the next #16 hit. After last season I have 100% confidence in him.
I'll say I have 99.99% confidence. Just because 100 sounds too ... I don't know... definite. @@IT happens so to speak. I think we were all utterly impressed with the draft class from last season and we are all excited about this season, but Saban is human and don't want to think it is an end-all type of pick.

Bump.........for those who missed it the first time around.

Gives a nice (realistic) idea of what to expect from a #16 draft pick.

:D

This post gives some perspective I think, on what our chances of Jason Allen being successful might be.

I like our chances.
