The Miami Dolphins hold the No. 14 overall pick in this year’s NFL draft. That is a quality slot for a team that finished 8-8 last season. For example, Miami had the No. 18 pick last year with the same .500 record.

There will be plenty of debate and speculation of who the Dolphins will take in April. But before looking ahead, let’s look back at the previous players taken in Miami’s draft slot to get an idea of the quality of prospects available.

2014: Chicago Bears CB Kyle Fuller
2013: Carolina Panthers DT Star Lotulelei
2012: St. Louis Rams DT Michael Brockers
2011: St. Louis Rams DE Robert Quinn
2010: Seattle Seahawks S Earl Thomas

I will be disappointed if we don't land a playmaker at that spot. If go with a dynamic big-bodied WR in that spot.

DeVante Parker please!

I could be enticed by Melvin Gordon though

Need playmakers bad...I don't think we can afford to trade down like some want. What happens is you miss out on Earl Thomas and get Jared Odrick. Just ask yourself who's the better player. One's a decent starter the other is an all-pro.

Could have C. J. Mosely or Zack Martin last year with 14

Yea no trading down, we need top talent. I'd only be interested in trading down into the 20's if we are targeting Gurley. I think he'd be closer to the top of the draft if it wasn't for the injury.

1000000000% agreed. Tired of hearing "trade down" every year. Draft playmakers, please.

ha ha always love the recent history stuff like that matters when you pick at a certain slot

Yeah, there will be some good players in that slot, doesn't mean we will pick the right one.

man, what a reassuring article. we are guaranteed to make a great pick now.

I just hope that we are able to take a late round flyer on Cedric Ogbuehi to sit for a year and be ready when Brandon Albert is gone.

i think you are gonna be dissappointed as i dont expect it to be on the board come pick #14...

I'm just glad Hickey is making the pick, not Ireland.

No way I'm picking a player with a major knee injury in round one....especially running back.

Melvin Gordan is the only back worth a first rounder...a true rare playmaking talent.

I think a tradedown into the 20's targeting DGB makes a lot of sense....you get your huge playmaking wideout and gain extra 2nd day picks this team needs.

If we don't take Gordan I would target Duke Johnson & Jay Ajayi (J-train) in day 2....check out Ajayi on tape....got the whole package.
