look this is'nt a smack thread:
first they release the best pitcher of our/my generation ROGER CLEMENS
then they alow pedro to go
now they wanna let manny go be w/ pedro?
I hate the sox but mabey just mabey this town enjoys the curses? they sure as heck dont seem commited to winning. mike camerron aint that good!

Sure defending world champs not commited to winning. Go read more about baseball because you are pretty short-sighted.

You should get your facts down before you post. The Sox offered Clemens a contract but he said "he wanted to stay closer to home" aka I want more money so he went to the highest bidder (Blue Jays). If you look at Clemens numbers in his last 2 years with the Sox he was pretty much a shell of his former self. No one thought he'd be that good for that long after those 2 years. Not to mention the fact that he was fat, out of shape, lazy and didn't care. Pedro wasn't staying with the Sox simply because Schilling was now the ace and Pedro wanted all the attention for himself. The Sox offered Pedro a fair deal but wouldn't give him 4 years like the Mets did in fear of him getting hurt for good. Sure Pedro is having a great year this year but will he be pitching half this good next year or the year after that?

As for curses? What curses?

What is your favorite team? I'm sure whatever team it is we could run down a bunch of idiotic moves they have made. If you're talking about dumb moves the Sox made why don't you get on them for not signing Jackie Robinson or Willie Mays. Hell why didn't you bring up the Babe Ruth trade?

you must be sox mngmnt. clemens wanted to be closer to home so he went to toronto? & then new york? no duquett drove clemens out ! dont mess w/ me on the clemens info.
 
No doubt about it, it's well known Duquette basically low balled Roger thinking he had nothing left in the tank. That was why Roger pointed up at him at Fenway when he was with the Blue Jays after he pitched a gem against the Red Sox!
 
If you know Clemens info then you'd know that's what he told the Red Sox... that he wanted to stay close to home. I was just pointing out that Clemens are in it for the money. YES Duquette basically ran him out of town but AT THE TIME it wasn't that bad of a move considering how he was declining over the past 2 years. Also noting that HE WAS FAT, OUT OF SHAPE AND DIDN'T CARE.

It's not that is what Clemens told the Red Sox when they were talking about a new contract. The quote just goes to show you Clemens went to Toronto just for the money. I believe David Wells killed Clemens in his book because of Clemens telling the Sox that and then going to Canada.

It was also about 10 years ago with different ownership and management. And they didn't actually trade Manny.

They let Pedro go because the Mets gave him a 4 year contract. Yeah that was real stupid. :rolleyes:

They aren't committed to winning? They have the 2nd highest payroll in all of baseball. HAHAHA. WORST.POST.EVER

P.S. Since you obviously have no clue when it comes to the Red Sox, Duquette's fingerprints were ALL over that 2004 World Championship. Go get a clue.
 
Let's also not forget about the fact that the Sox are currently in FIRST PLACE in the AL East. Of course the Sox aren't committed to winning...

Does anyone know if gonick1 is actually Roger Clemens, Pedro Martinez or Manny Ramirez? Maybe he's Nomar Garciaparra... getting rid of him really hurt the team huh?
 
As a baseball fan, but not a sox fan, I'm just wondering if the sox have went stale? I don't mean this as smack talk but it seems after slaying the ghost of the bambino and his curse....the sox seem like Mandy Patakin (my name is Inigo Montoya.........you killed my father.........prepare to die!) of the movie "The Princess Bride''. After killing the man who killed his father.....he just did'nt know what to do next. His quest was over, he had climbed the mountain and had won it all...what to do now? The answer of couse is just go out and play ball...win games. I just think the sox had direction with concentrating on beating the Yanks, now they need a new goal and some one to set it.
