Regardless of whether it created a setback, or ultimately proves beneficial,
his reasons for leaving imo, fell appallingly short of justifying it.
So short infact, that the legitimate excuses for doing so, must clearly be numbered.
First off, Everyone around him, along with the organization, is keeping mum. So much, that it leads to the belief everyone within the organization DOES know, are willing to accept it, but find it so embarrassing, that it would embarrass themselves and the organization more to release it.
Why?
Probably because no one appears to be upset, or even willing to offer a guess.
His heart was set on coaching the college level.
Ok? Hes what, 55?
A couple more years, some lucrative pay, and he can return to college, and still be the most sought after coach around.
Screw that, his heart is set on coaching the college level.
So, you just spent 10 years doing that, why not just consider this a vacation, a sabatical from the college circuit, a chance to refresh his teaching credentials, and update himself on what rookies now need to prepare for?
Blow it out your pie hole, his heart is set on coaching the college level now.
So, is 2 more years, dedicated to living up to a 5 year commitment too much to ask? Simply being head coach of his own Pro team isn't rewarding enough? Not fulfilling enough? Doesn't suit his interests, and its not the money? Yet worth the major ding in his integrity? The backlash by an entire fandom?
The demerit to his career coaching achievement?
Yes.
So hes saying, he absolutely HAS to be, MUST be, and can ONLY be happy when he's around more impressionable, moldable, younger men?
Er, lets not go there. ack.
What about the the idea of helping some aging players, get that last chance for a ring?
An aging team, whos veteran players invested their hopes for a championship on his plans? How about the players that signed here, to learn from a coach who they never had the opportunity to learn from in college? In fact when asked, Will Allen himself said the opportunity to learn from Saban was his primary reason for signing with here.
Ok, If not for the team, then how about a City? Just two more years, to bring a championship back to a city? A community of fans who's hopes and dreams number in the tens of thousands!
(Less the fickle minded 20% ofcourse, who turned rabid, the moment his toss of the red flag came up short.)
I dont buy it
My guess?
His wife dropped the bombshell, said, "Its me, or go _ _ _ _ your Dolfans!
So he left.
Better for us.
