“I would probably agree with you on that,” Bush said. “Ryan can watch the veterans and learn. When he gets the call, he’ll be ready.”

Jackson shares the widespread media view that Garrard is the leader in the race at this point, although Bush did not share his thoughts on that part of the question. He’s coming off a serious back injury, though, and he’s definitely not the long-term solution at the position. Moore has salvaged some lost causes in Carolina and Miami, but he’s never been the starter over the course of an entire season.
Given those realities, Tannehill’s spot on the depth chart could change fairly quickly even if he does start the year at the bottom of the pile.

Matt Moore may be average at best, but the thought Garrard being the Dolphins starting QB makes me wanna :puke:

At first I thought, wow Florio wrote an fair article for once. Then I saw it wasn't him, lol

Why does it make you want to puke? He's perfectly capable of managing games, and our offense fits his strengths as a player. I'm not saying I expect a pro bowl season or even close to it, but he is capable if he gets back to form. That said, the franchise has taken the steps that they see necessary to fix the future of Miami's QB position in drafting Tannehill. So it's not as if Garrard is "our guy". If they think Ryan needs to sit for half a season or a full season, so be it. No need to rush it, we probably aren't going to the Super Bowl any time real soon. We aren't even in pre-season yet, let alone training camp. Let's wait to see how these guys play before we puke at the site of them being on the field.

probably cause he knows what garrards ceiling is...and it's not good enough...it wasn't good enough in his prime even to take you anywhere

Read it and weep. I get so frustrated with some people that say "just throw Tannehill to the wolves!" like it's going to benefit him to get his ass kicked. Once Tannehill is developed, I will feel more than comfortable with him as our starting quarterback. Right now, it's just not the smart thing to do. It's not like we don't have other quarterbacks that can play right now. Next year is a different story. This year, we need to let Tannehill make his transition from college to pros.

I have never felt this good about our QB situation since Danny left. I think we are in for a fun season.

1. I think Tanny was an awful pick and will never be a franchise QB.....sorry everyone
2. I still think Matt Moore will beat out Garrard even if it doesn't look that way at the moment
3. Having our top 10 pick starting the season at third string is flat out horrid..........depressing

What's depressing are people making excuses like this is a "good thing" that our Top 10 pick can't beat out a relic and backup...

I felt good about for about 5 minutes a couple of seasons ago when we had Pennington and Henne hadn't yet shown that his potential was maxed out his second year...other than that...yep, it pretty much has sucked. This year is no different...

The team and the coaching staff will need to build some continuity and learn how to win again coming out of the gate. Philbin wants to get the team going and start winning games right away. It will be tough enough without having a rookie QB making things worse.
Garrard or Moore can lead the team to wins. Philbin will ride the QB with the hot hand.
Once the team has found it's identity and all the core players know their roles, then the rookie can get some playing time.
RT is at least 1-2 years away from competing for a starting job.
It sucks that our #8 pick will sit on the bench for years, but we needed to draft a 1st round QB...remember?

The staff at GB never rushed their QB's into action. I believe we will see the same mindset here. A long term committment and planning. I like it.

i wonder how many people here would say that luck should sit behind garrard and moore if he was here...the veteran that gives us the best chance to win stuff...
