Reggie Bush agrees Ryan Tannehill will be third quarterback

1. I think Tanny was an awful pick and will never be a franchise QB.....sorry everyone
2. I still think Matt Moore will beat out Garrard even if it doesn't look that way at the moment
3. Having our top 10 pick starting the season at third string is flat out horrid..........depressing

1. Everyone has his own opinion...good thing is yours OR mine won't matter. We'll find out soon enough, whether it be this season or next, if he will be our franchise QB.
2. Garrard I believe will be the starting QB. If it's looking that way now...less than a month away from preseason, chances are he will start Week 1 (barring injury of course).
3. I still don't get this line of thinking, but whatever. It makes no sense to rush Tannehill's development. He'll get his chance soon enough. Who cares what other teams are doing with RGIII or Luck or any of the rookie QBs for that matter. Philbin will decide what's best for Tannehill and when he'll start. He certainly has more credentials with QBs/offense than any of us here that's for sure.l

Top ten picks should not ever ride the bench. Only the Dolphins would have a top ten pick as a third stringer...Had we taken Tanny in the third round where he belonged (imo) we would not look like idiots right now. I'm struggling to think of any recent top ten picks riding the bench. Can you? You damn sure can't name a top ten that was a third stringer off the top. We should have gotten Moore some weapons and a decent O line and waited for a real QB next year or the year after...........God help me I hope I'm wrong.

Is there a written rule about top ten picks not riding the bench??? 1st, 10th...40th...who cares, if they feel he should sit, then he's going to sit. There's no purpose in rushing him into the fire right away. If we throw him into the mix now and he fails, he may never get another chance to prove himself and his confidence will be shot going forward. Again, I'll let Philbin and company decide what's best for Tannehill's progress. In the meantime, we'll let Moore and Garrard battle it out for the right to start the season. If one or both fail OR get injured, then we'll see what we've got with Tannehill. Besides, I'm sure he'll get plenty of looks in preseason or in mop up duty.

Last year's #8 pick didn't play until November

in garrards last full season as a starting qb 2010 he went to probowl. 91 qbr. i really think he's gonna win the job not to mention hes more mobile than moore (all this assuming his back is fine) he has a big arm, and did most of his damage without any wr's per se. im all for whoever wins it wins it between moore and david but i look for garrard to win, moore as backup and tanne 3rd. at seasons end we resign garrard for two more years with a very cap friendly number if tanne is ready in the second year of garrards next contract with moore walking, and then us just picking up a project QB as 3rd stringer or maybe finally advancing devlin off PS. Assuming garrard can still have a positive TD-INT ration in 2013. if moore wins the qb battle this year and leads us to a winning season, ill be HAPPY, but he'll also want a longer contract that will push us beyong tanne's rookie contract and more than likely lead to us letting him go anyways and trying to find another stop gap decent qb for 1 season while tanne still learns game (hopefully he'll be ready to go by two years but he's very green.) Our BEST case scenario is tanne becoming awesome in preseason, but other than that, garrard winning hte battle, playing good and then reupping for another season or two, granted contract being frontloaded or incentive laiden so we can prepare tanne to be starter in 2014. hope we dont have to wait that long but it's a very high possibility

the only problem i have with coming out and saying that whoever loses the starter job b/t garrard and moore will be gone is if garrard wins it which i think the signs are pointing that way can we really depend on him to stay healthy at this stage if tannys not ready to philbin and ireland...i don't think we can...which makes it hard for me to say moore goes...

i don't know if the staff would be comfortable with garrard only...

I agree with this. If Moore wins though, I thing Garrard is history.

I don't have a problem with Tanny sitting if thats what he needs. I have a problem with us using our top ten pick on a third stringer. Hell I actually think he should sit a year or two.......and that's the problem

Crumpdaddy - Nice breakdown of the foreseeable QB situation in Miami.

Vernon Gholston was the 6th pick of the 2008 draft and never started a game that year.

Hopefully Tanny does better than that bust.

Its funny everyone knew going into the draft Tannehill was a project and would need to sit and wanted him at all costs in the first round. People wanted to trade up to 3 to get him knowing that he was most likely not nfl ready right now. All the analysts and scouts said he would need a year or two to adjust to the nfl. I personally said he was a big reach at 8 for a project player that an 8th pick should contribute immediately but 75% of this site was telling me if a potential franchise qb is there at 8 u have to take him regardless of him not being ready to play.

I'm hoping for the best with tannehill but at this point there's no reason to throw him out there to just get experience. If we didn't have garrard OR moore then I would say he's gotta play but both those guys are capable of winning games NOW while tannehill can learn. Philbins not going to tank the season just to play a rookie qb if there's other qbs on the roster who are capable of running the offense efficiently enough to win.

Everyone knew what we were getting into drafting tannehill. Like I said before the draft, selecting him at 8 was a big reach for a prospect who would need to sit. He was only a top ten pick because of the demand of qbs. Just because he was selected at 8 doesn't make him nfl ready. I'm happy we have two vets with experience.

Also, nobody knows what's gonna happen over the next month or two, between camp and preseason games. Its early july. Nobody knows who's gonna be starter, backup, or third string. For all we know tannehill could come out of camp as the starter. My point is nobody knows what's gonna happen. Have some damn patience (its like 2 months until the start of the season) and we will all know how ready tannehill is. If garrards playing better then he deserves to play, that's the way I look at it.

I said in many posts before the draft that we should not even consider drafting Tanny in the first. I sat there and begged the TV not to announce Tanny as our pick during the draft. I wanted to build around Moore this year and then if Moore didn't play well enough go after a real QB next year. I debated with many about this. Thought it then and still think it now. Tanny=bust in my opinion

I didn't want tannehill at 8 but what else can I do but hope for the best? In my opinion, scouts/analysts opinions, reggie bushes opinion....tannehill needs to sit and learn. This is not some breaking news all of a sudden, idk why people are flipping out. This was known well before the draft that he needed time to be nfl ready. Philbin wants to win and he is going to start whoever gives him the best chance to do so and if he doesn't think tannehills that guy then ill trust him. I knew he wasn't ready in march therefore I'm not surprised he isn't ready in early july.

True. I think they are fairly confident in Garrard's health though. Plus Tannehill will never get ready if he is getting 3rd team reps. That and I don't think Moore is all that great of a fit for this offense. I think TC will provide a lot more clarity for all of us....i hope.
