this kid is selfish and my patience ran out on him a long time ago. Here are my reasons for him being selfish.

(1) He made a big deal about the number one pick, because there are no taxes in Houston and he could earn more money working in Texas.

(2) He then makes a big deal about playing for the Jets, because its a big market in New York and he talks about all that BS he could make in marketing

(3) He then pops off about getting #5 and makes a big deal about donating some to Katrina, which aint even much, if he was so dedicated to Katrina he would donate his signing bonus money, or even the money he got as a cash advance from his agent and endorsements.

Im sick and tired of this kid already, he hasnt even played a down yet and is acting like he is entitled to everything. JUST PLAY THE GAMN GAME< i dont see leinart griping about the number of his jersey, leinart is wearing #7 and he wore 11 at USC. This guy is all about himself, look at him walk around with those huge diamonds in his ears and that fake smile. Reggie wants people to bend over backwards for him and hook him up, but when the media wanted answers about his family's home in San Diego , he couldn't handle the heat and backed down quick. I'm also sick of this guy worrying about how much he is gonna make in marketing, the guy is the #2 overall pick for crying out loud!!!! isnt that enough money for you? how much more money does he need? does he gotta pay off those ex-gang members his dad chilled with.

I'm also sick of those media people making a big deal about the money leinart lost, because he didnt come out for the 2005 NFL draft. WHO CARES? it isnt your money , so stop worrying about it, it aint like its gonna chnage your life. Im especially sick of darren rovell of ESPN who keeps harping on this, why does he care? it aint even his business if an athlete comes out for a draft, it aint like athletes are gonna donate a piece of their check to espn.

im done with my rant.

Well, in Bush's defense, on the Leinart subject, Leinart wore 7 in high school, so he is going back to his high school number, not some random one. Bush has worn that number since his first eve year of football, it means a lot to him, just like my number (21) means a lot to me since I've had it from Pop-Warner all the way to the Semi-Pro adult leagues I play in now. I just completely fail to see the problem with a RB wearing a single digit number, and I don't get why the NFL is making SUCH a big deal out of it. (not going to get into a huge rant abou tit again, but my stance is written on it in the "Reggie Bush Not Allowed To Wear #5" thread)

That being said, I do agree that it was ridiculous to use Katrina as a ploy to try and get the number, and do agree that, for someone trying to make a great impression and try and take that rol of "savior" for New Orleans, 25% of your jersey profit is a VERY low number, considering the players only make a small percentage of their jersey sales anyway, so he'd really only be giving the city of NO like 4% of his TOTAL jersey sales, which is lame because THEY are the ones who buy the jersey, lol. He's basically giving them their money back.

I also agree that there is tons of hype surrounding him and he hasn't done a thing. I have said FOREVER that LenDale was the better RB, but Beggie was the better all-around guy. I NEVER thought Reggie could be a feature back in the NFL, and I don't think he is going to make as big an impact in the NFL as he did in college on a stacke team against weak defenses. The biggest case in point would be that when the game was online the line in the Rose Bowl, LenDale White, NOT Reggie Bush, got the ball. Hell, another big point would be that Texas had a pro-style defense and they SHUT REGGIE DOWN, he was USELESS in the Rose Bowl, and that was just college player running a pro defense, this will be PROS running a pro defense, and they are much better, bigger, and more experienced than my Longhorns defense was.

How can you call a guy selfish who was the best running back in college football, but was still willing to split carries? He welcomed in LenDale White to get some carries and Bush's maturity helped the Trojans build that dynasty.

First off I don't think he made a big deal about going to Houston or New York. I don't recall him saying he didn't want to play in New Orleans or trying to force a trade or anything. In fact I haven't heard him say a single negative thing about the city. Secondly I have no clue how you can call him "selfish". He is one of the most selfless rookies I have seen. He did more for the community before even putting on a Saints jersey than I can ever remember another player doing. Here's what he has done so far:

1. 12 hummers for the New Orleans Police Dept.
2. $50,000 to save a school for handicapped children that was on the verge of closing.
3. $100,000 to rebuild a football field
4. 25% of his jersey sales to the Katrina relief fund

And I'm sure that's just the beginning. He did all of that before they even had their first rookie mini-camp.

THATS ALL GOOD BUT DOES HE REALLY HAVE TO MAKE A BIG DEAL ABOUT HIS #. I WAS HAPPY THAT MARIO WILLIAMS WENT #1 BECAUSE REGGIE MADE A BIG DEAL ABOUT HOW GOOD HE WAS.IT FUNNY THAT HE DIDN'T GO #1 TO THE TEXANS. I POINT AND LAUGH. :sidelol: ELI MANNING WAS WORSE THEN REGGIE, ELI REFUSED TO BE PICKED BY THE CHARGERS.

I don't agree that the talk of the Jets was selfish. Not sure about the Taxes thing.

Petitioning the NFL to change their rules before you have made a team or played a down though is pretty selfish.

Hopefully this will be the last act like that.

on the # thing. If I had asperations of being in the NFL I would make sure my jersey number that I was about to fall in love with would be a number that is compliant with the NFL number rules.

I played TE in HS and my jersey number was 55 I know a LB number its stupid but it was given to me I didn't have a choice to pick, However In College I probably would have switched to 85 if I could have gone that far. and then gone to the pros as an 85.

This thread is wack. One main reason he's not the "Most Selfish Rookie in League History" is how many guys would have refused to play for the Saints? Thats the most selfish act a rookie could make, i.e. Eli Manning and John Elway

I don't think its as big a deal as people are making it out to be. He said himself he'd like to be 5 but if not it isn't a big deal. His marketing guy is the one who really pushed for him to keep 5. I'm glad he didn't get it because I don't think exceptions should be made and I don't want to see that rule changed. But this isn't the first time a rookie wanted a number he couldn't have...Edge wanted 5....C-Wood wanted 2....I think Deion wanted 2 as well.

Exactly, well said.

Another thing is that the number issue shouldn't be an issue at all......if it weren't for the media. It was a REQUEST...that's it!! All he did was ask, what's the harm in that. Edgerrin James made the same exact request when he came in. but the media didn't make a big deal about it.

Aned he's selfish for wanting to be the #1 overall pick??????????????? that 's the funniest thing I've ever heard. I guess every single palyer in the draft each year is selfish, because they all would want to be #1.

People really need to get a grip on this whole 'selfish' thing.........remember how 'selfish' Ronnie Brown was being last year trying to get his contract done.......seems like no one cares about that anymore. :shakeno:

True. True.

That would have been worse.

I also recently read on another site that 25% of the proceeds from the sale of his jersey will go to hurricane katrina victims. That my friend is not a selfish athlete.

Didn't he also tell his agent to get a deal done so he is their for the start of training camp by any means possible? So he wanted to wear #5 who cares? I think he should have been allowed to wear it and their would have been a great marketing thing for the city of New Orleans. Reggie Bush is associated with the #5 right now and I think it's a dumb rule anyways. I think he is one of the most self-less rookies to come along because it would have been real easy for him to say he doesn't wanna be in New Orleans.
