Reggie Bush: New offense will do ‘wondrous things’ for Chad Henne

Did Brees play well in his first chance? Did he all the sudden seem to get it? Funny how there are tons of QBs in the history of the NFL that get a new system or hit a learning plateau which elevates their game. Maybe it won't happen and maybe it will.

Err... tons? After 3 years?

The thing is, even Marshall has begun to change his tune on Henne... That has to count for something.

It does. This is the interesting thing about Finheaven. On the majority of topics and threads it is either 1 extreme or the other.

Bluefin, in his original post, even stated that it was atleast a positive. But, apparently he is not allowed to be skeptical of Bush's words? That makes no sense,. We know first hand what DC'S may or may not do in preseason. We have a DC who keeps his plans vanilla in preseason. Other DC'S do it to. So after 2 preseason games 1 being a poor performance and 1 being a good performance, and 25 days with Bush is it not ok for Bluefin or myself or anyone else to be skeptical? He acknowledged it atleast was a positive.

Where is the grey area? Why does it have to be an agenda because he is skeptical? It's 2 extremes. It's like our current govenrment. You are either left or you are right, very few independants.

I think it is encouraging, but I have also seen the last 2 years. It's hard for me to not be skeptical based on the last 2 years. When I see him being consistant and not just 1 good game after a bad 1 then I might start taking it for serious. When he plays an actual regular season game, and does good against real defensive schemes and not water downed or project defenses then I will start believing it.

Until then Bluefin and myself and everyone else has a right to be skeptical and take it with a grain of salt. It's nice that these players are saying it, but we heard it last year too and looked what happened.

Until then, it's a skeptical positive

Did SD get a new scheme his last season? I don't think so. It just clicked with Brees. So we now need to hope it clicks with Henne in a brand new system. You are right, it can happen and hopefully it does. But Brees and Henne are 2 different cases. Brees didn't go through an offensive philosophy when he suddenly got it.

He has every right to be skeptical of anything for any reason.

Others also have the right to debate him for it.

Then they need to acknowldge the whole quote not what's just convenient.

It's not debate when someone claims he has an agenda just because he is skeptical. Completely ignoring Bluefin stated it was a positive. He only debated what made he wanted to not the whole post

With all do respect, Reggie has not closely watched Chad's last two seasons......so I really don't give his eval of Chad much merit. But it sounds positive anyway.

Perhaps he is being more objective about the Henne he sees NOW as opposed to the last 2 seasons. Therefore, his evaluation is significantly more important than yours.
I don't know how well Henne will play, but it gets ridiculous reading posts where people emphatically suggest that a young QB just entering is 3rd yr as a starter has absoutely no upside and has reached his ceiling as a player.

Bush is just another one who is drinking the koolaid :rolleyes2: I swear, regardless of what Henne does, it just will not be good enough. Why not just let this play out before being so damn negative? Nah, that's not out the haters think

Very much agreed, though sometimes you can say "I agree with A, but B... <rest of post>".

With all due respect, you have never played with Chad Henne or Reggie Bush.

sometimes all it takes is a little bit of confidence from those around you. Remember Eli Manning was not really respected by his teammates early in his career, and he has a similar demeanor as Henne. Eli also struggled with some inconsistencies. It took Eli standing up for himself to the critism Tiki Barber put on him that got the fans, coaches, and other players to applaud him and he started to gain their confidence with that. Hell, same with Aaron Rodgers with how he carried himself when Favre was traded to the Jets and all the crap he had to deal with.

It really seems like Henne's harshest critics both within the organization (Marshall), and outside (Omar) are starting to praise him more for his leadership and how he's dealt with all the scrutiny.

I'm a firm believer in 2 things with sports. 1)Players play better when they are looked to as leaders and 2) Players play better when they know their coaches trust them. I think it's quite obvious that Henne is quickly winning the respect of the locker room, and I feel Sparano and Daboll are putting their trust in Henne.

From what we know from last year 2 things are evident. 1)People still looked to Pennington over Henne and 2)Dan Henning did not trust Chad Henne.

Of course, anyone with any common sense must know all his teammates hate Henne, don't trust him, and will never respect him...just a rumor, but I heard all his teammates refuse to travel with him.

If this was the truth he wouldn't have gotten a large majority of the offensive players to HIS organized workouts during the lockout. Remember Henne and the Dolphins were one of the first (if not the first) teams to hold these player only workouts.

With all due respect, you have never played with Chad Henne or Reggie Bush.

Obviously, however, Reggie Bush has only been around him 25 days minus days off, and never in a full game that counts. All I'm saying is that a Dolphin fan that sees every game has seen Henne play much more than a new acquisition who has spent days with him. If you think that means nothing...that is your opinion, doesn't make you right or him right.

All I care about is what he does in games that count...when he proves he can do that I'll let up On Chad Henne and admit I was wrong, until then this is all pie in the sky hope.

The light turned on for Brees in year 4, which he played in a very similar offense as Chad Henne did under Henning (i.e. Marty Ball). Brees flourished under a more wide open QB-friendly offense in NO under Sean Payton; Widely revered as an offense mastermind.

I actually find Brees' and Henne's careers to be quite similar to each other. Hopefully in year 4, in a QB friendly offense (i.e. Daboll), Henne will be 1 year ahead of when Brees began his ascent to the QB olympus of the gridiron.

Well, in all fairness to Bluefin....... I would take Marshall/Hartline and Fasano more to heart about Henne then Reggie Bush. I mean they only played with the guy for a couple years, and they pretty much gave up on him.

But it is a new year, and Henne may have grown. Its nice to see Bush give a positive look to Henne. Maybe, just maybe, Henne can be more consistant and improve. We shall see. But there is no agenda in taking what Bush says with a grain of salt, especially the short time he has had to work with Henne. Taking into account what the players who actually catch the majority of passes think of him. Or, thought of him.

if you were paying attention, both fasano and marshall have said they have seen a big change in henne. Hartline i dont think has a problem with Henne. he certainly has not thrown him under the bus or flung the ball in disgust when he actually caught the damn thing.
