It's a new day in Miami, where new head coach Joe Philbin brings a very different philosophy on offense when compared to previous head coach Tony Sparano.

Reggie Bush got an up-close look at this during OTA sessions last week.

“No huddle. Very up-tempo and fast-paced offense. That’s the biggest thing right off the bat," Bush told the official team site when asked about changes he's noticed. "That means our conditioning is going to have to be high, and we’re going to run a lot of plays in real games. So that’s something we have got to be prepared for. We’ve got to play fast and know the system; we can’t have split-second indecision because it could mess up a play or a whole drive.”

Things are so up-tempo that Bush wonders if the Dolphins can pull it off in a game situation.

“That’s a lot of plays. I was just asking our running back coach (Jeff Nixon), ‘Is this going to be the temp in the game?’ " he said. "We’re pretty fast right now, but usually we practice faster than we should play. I don’t know, we’ll see. Hopefully the tempo will go down a little bit and save some guys because that’s a lot of plays in one game.”

Bush set a career-high with 1,086 yards rushing last season, and said earlier this month that he wants to win the rushing title this season. It's unlikely Bush will have that opportunity in Philbin's offense, but at the very least he should get in a great workout every Sunday.

Conditioning, what a concept. Hopefully the team under Philbin will be conditioned enough to make the heat more of an ally than an adversary. It would be nice to see some early season home games where the Fins actually look like the home team.

At least they will be in shape at the beginning of the year. That game against the Patriots at the beginning of the year was embarrassing. Maybe this will be a Dolphins version of Buffalo in the early 90s or Oregon.

It looks like the writer took a little liberty with his interpretation of Bush's comments. When I read what is directly quoted from Bush I don't see "Bush wonders if the Dolphins can pull it off in a game situation."

Both sides of the ball had better be in shape because if we have a 3 and out it will be quick!

It crazy how their is always a catch 22. Ball control offense you better score or else!

I have no doubt that Bush will be ready and in shape for the season. This guy has a work ethic that is second to none.

A fast paced offense, whether it's the no huddle or not, gives the offense the advantage of minimizing defensive substitutions. It also helps the offense get in a rhythm. It's part of a sound offensive strategy.

There's no reason that a team can't run ball control from a fast paced offense. They go 80 yards in 10 plays in 6 minutes rather than in 10 plays in 8 minutes, and they should score more because of more opportunities. Teams that run fast paced offenses also have a big advantage when they need a couple of scores in a few minutes simply because they're used to operating at a faster pace than more deliberate teams.

Exactly... I like up-tempo offense but everyone first talks about how the offense needs to be in shape. Both sides need it because up-tempo can score quickly and even success can get the defense back on the field in a hurry.

Personally I hope we have elements of both fast-pace when needed and ball control when needed. The thought of getting in a track meet with a team like the Patriots is not that appealing to me.

I love to see that a guy as professional and talented as Bush is turning up for training and facing challenges he hasn't had before. Challenges that are making a guy as good as him question himself and push himself to rise to the occasion.

That a very encouraging sign that Miami is about to step up a level in terms of quality of our gameplay. We're putting together an offensive corps in Bush, Egnew, Miller, Clay and the WRs that can be lined up all kinds of ways. Mix that in with no huddle and teams won't know what the hell is going on, if it's done well.

I like the idea of a track meet with the pats, it will show that this team is capable of of toe to toe with them, I say let it all hang out, at least the pre-season won't be boring.

So you mean we won't sit on a 10 point lead in the second quarter and be happy?

10 point hell, Sparano would sit on a 3 point lead in the second quarter! With 10 points, we would start punting on second down.
