Miami should really think hard about Nelson at the number 9 spot. The guy is a ball hawk that can hit, even though he isnt very big. I know a lot of you want offense with the first round pick but no one can argue that are secondary needs help. I've watched every Gators game this year and this guy is a baller. If we can somehow land Asante Samual or Nate Clements at corner, we could end up with a good secondary.

What about Landry though, isn't he a higher rated safety?

He's a great player, but I really want to see us upgrade the offensive line via this years draft. A good football team starts with the O-line, and ours has been sub-par. Its very hard to get good free agents at the line position...its much easier to sign or trade for players in the secondary.

yea, and a better player. Nelson wouldnt make any sense at all at 9

He's Kiper's #7 rated player. Granted, that isn't gospel or anything, but it gives you an idea of how these players are regarded. To say it wouldn't make any sense, especially with how mediocre our secondary is, is foolish.

Then obviously you havent seen him or Kandry play he more than outplayed him this year!

Nelson hands down, hits more than just the hits, its how much field he can cover and defend the pass that what makes him so much more deadly.

Landry is probably a better all around safety while Nelson is the prototypical free safety, a ball hawking playmaker.

Nelson definetly outplayed Landry this year.

Reggie Nelson covers like Ed Reed, hits like Roy Williams, and has WAY cooler hair than Cher Palamalu.

You guys that think Nelson makes no sense at 9 didnt watch the dolphins games this year. No playmakers in the secondary at all. Nelson made an impact for the gators all year long and he'll do just that for the dolphins secondary. You know who led the dolphins in INT's this year?? Jason Taylor. Not good for the secondary at all.
