Reggie Wayne on WQAM

The main issue with Wayne coming to Miami with Peyton is Wayne would have to accept a low pay day. Miami can't afford, IMO, to pay Peyton, Wayne, and still a few other FA's the team needs to fill needs.

People said the same thing about the Heat not being able to get Wade, Bosh and Lebron signed, and when and if they could, they would have no supporting cast. Sure is nice to have Battier, Mike Miller and Udonis Haslem coming off the bench, 3 guys who start on the majority of the teams in the league.

I think Peyton wants to win and I'm not so certain he is going to demand a contract that will damage a teams ability to get more pieces to make a run at a ring. I also think Reggie understands a 10 million dollar a year contract may not get him and Peyton to their ultimate goal. All I'm saying if the situation is right, these guys who have made good money over the years could take less to go after another ring.

Sounds like this guy really wants to come to Miami and is very optimistic about Peyton fitting in here.

Tough to compare the NFL vs. NBA when it comes to money. In the NBA they get anywhere from 60-90% of their money guaranteed!! So if you sign for 10 mil a year chances are you will get 8+ in the NBA. In the NFL we all know how it goes, player signs 65 million deal and only 30-45% at most is guaranteed money. Rest is bonuses and unattainable goals for the most part.

I don't see NFL players taking too much of a pay-cut (since technically they already without guaranteed money) to get a ring. We can only hope what you are saying does happen.

Could anyone provide a recap?

Recap:
*Wayne said its sad to see him leave the Colts but its is something he was prepared for
*Irvin says that its embarassing to see that a guy like Manning could actually get cut. Says its the ugliest part of the game.
*Wayne is interested in playing here to say the least
*Wayne says Miami is a VERY possible landing point for Manning due to having a place here, familiar with the city, fans will immediatly embrace him, etc..
*Wayne would love to reunite with Manning in Miami
*Wayne talked about how much he and B-Marsh can help eachother ON the field and OFF. Thinks that it would be VERY dangerous wiht them two and Manning.
*Wayne watches film of B-Marsh on getting off of press coverage and beign physical.
*Irvin talked about how much of a hard worker B-Marsh is.
*Irvin and Wayne disscussed that Manning no doubt has a chip on his shoulder and will want to prove to everyone he can still spin
*Irvin said if Manning wins a SB with another team that puts him in THE BEST QB EVER convo b/c he will have won a SB with 2 teams. Something that has never been done before.
*Wayne said it wouldnt get better than coming to Miami and winning a SB here

To say the least? Sounded like Wayne wants to come to Miami regardless who the quarterback is.

Wayne and Manning.. come on down! Can we afford it? Cut Bell perhaps? Forget about getting anyone else in FA. RT/Pass Rusher/Safety must come from the draft which is fine with me.

I don't disagree and we will have to see. I just think it could prove easier contract wise and I could see a few guys from Peyton's core take "less", Peyton included, to make this all possible.

NFL | Reggie Wayne looking for Santana Moss money.?

Wed, 07 Mar 2012 10:06:13 -0800

The camp for impending free-agent WR Reggie Wayne will likely be seeking a contract comparable to the three-years, $15 million deal WR Santana Moss received from the Washington Redskins last year. That deal included a $5 million signing bonus and $6 million in guarantees from the Redskins.
