Reggie, you had your chance...

I appreciated the effort but ridiculous. This guy was getting BATTERED, not pretty. I don't want to see him running into a brick wall every week.

totally agree with you on this one....as much as Reggie has a so called chip on his shoulder and wants to prove his doubters, there is so much battering a RB of his size can take from a DL.

You could see his commitment in making his presence known, but on goal line situations man why didn't they go with LJ, if not to give Reggie a break and have a change of pace in your running game.

In fact I would have had him line up out wide just to keep the defense honest and give LJ more of a chance to run it down the middle.

These threads being created are just getting worse and worse by the week. I swear soon the mods just need to lock people from creating threads.

I think Bush played fine. They just needed to play LJ 5 or 6 snaps to give him a break and cut down this between the tackles runs. The real problem is that Daboll and Sparano need to watch more tape of the Saints. I don't ever remember Reggie getting out there and being used to create mismatches for him, or for another receiver. He was used like a conventional RB with routes out of the back field and as a safety valve for Henne.

The problem isn't Bush, it's the fact that we don't have the same creativity with him that the Saints did.

I think we used him more between the tackles than we should have, I think it was because Thomas was out and LJ is too slow, once Thomas is healthy LJ is cut he was there only if Bush got hurt......

38 yards on 11 carries is good? That's a good game? Really?

Henne has more yards rushing.

While I don't think we should over react... but let's not paint this as a good outing by any stretch.

This thread really isn't justified considering it was one game and there was enough egg to go around for everyone. Yes, Reggie Bush struggled but it was mostly because the offensive line had NO push. I've been a season ticket holder for 10 years, live Dallas now and still fly back down for games. I was at the game last night and this freakin O-line got handled. They were contending with two 350 lbs beasts in Haynesworth and Wilfork (former or current pro-bowlers). I don't care if it was Adrian Peterson or Arian Foster in the backfield, they weren't going to going anywhere because these DT's allowed their linebackers the freedom to shoot the gaps and once in a while made the stops themselves.

Below are my key contributing factors to the loss yesterday.

1. Defense was autrocious and they should be embarassed if not humbled for the entire year after this performance for giving up over 600 yards to the Patriots. The Patriots are good but even they have never been that good before and set a team record offensively. I could single out a few players but that wouldn't be fair since they all had a hand in giving up the yards. You win as a unit and you lose as a unit period.

2. Poor performance by our O-line. Sad when you see a clean blitz not picked up because when we blitzed the Patriot's O-line handled it. I'm sick and tired of us tweeking the line. We had a decent line after the 2009 season and finished 4th overall in rushing, and then Sparano changes personnel again, and we went from 4th to 21st in one year. Pretty stupid considering he is an offensive line coach.

3. Play calling in the red zone is to be second guessed. We were inside the 2 yard line twice and came away with only 3 points. I know this new NFL era is a passing one but seriously get aggressive and play old school smash mouth football. They should have attempted to pound it in there with Larry Johnson. Why did we resign him only for him to remain on the bench during those situations? We have enough cheerleaders, let him play for situations he is suited for, or cut him.

4. Overall we were outcoached. I wonder if the A.J. Edds situation factored in a bit more than people think. As an inside linebacker you make the defensive calls. Did A.J. provide the Patriots with enough defensive schemes we run to have a record day offensively? We know the Patriots will try everything including cheating to win so perhaps the got what they needed out of A.J. Edds. I wonder how long before they cut him. I personally thought he was a decent young player but they picked him up pretty quickly which tells me they perhaps could have done so to interrogate him.

Just my two cents....

Just my two cents....

This thread is about Bush... there are other threads addressing those issues.

he looked good.. He didnt get a whole lot of carries... remember, that is the biggest 4-3 line we will ever play.. they changed their philosophy on defense. Looks like the patriots want to keep the opponents running game on lock because they want their offense on the field as much as possible.. they are not worried about your defense, they probably have the most dynamic offense in league history... too many weapons!

The patriots dared us to beat them through the air. There were times where I was surprised we ran the ball, when I expected a more "explosive" offense.

Reggie Bush wasn't the problem last night. It looked to me that he gave 110% out there. The problem was our o-line could not open any running lanes. Their d-line had our o-line on their heels all night long.

C'mon...I'm one of the biggest critics of this team...but last night did not prove Reggie can't be an every-down back. They went away from him because they were getting their ***** kicked and couldn't stick to the game plan...nothing else...certainly not because of Reggie. Get real...he actually looked pretty good last night.

That has nothing to do with this. As good as he is, he has a role. He may not have liked it be he needs to be used the way the saints used him. If he is stuck in the backfield as a single back, you lose the whole "mismatch" he brings to the game.

Not to mention fatigue. The guy was still sweating at his press conference.

This what sparano said after the game:
Reggie probably played too many plays tonight. At the end we didn’t take him out. I don’t think we took him out one play. We had 70 snaps…or 77 snaps and they had 80 snaps and I think Reggie played all the plays. So at some point here we got to go on and take him out of the game give him a little bit of a breather.

And Bush was still making plays in the 4th quarter with that TD catch. When was the last time Ronnie or Ricky saw 70-77 snaps a game? and they out weigh him by at least 25-30 lbs. Why the f did we ever get rid of both ricky and ronnie and not try to keep just one?.... cause we drafted Thomas? and then we go out and sign LJ what a joke. I think Bush did a great job when he was called upon.
