Reggie, you had your chance...

i dont think saying he had a chance is really a good way to put it...he had what, 11 rush attempts and 9 catches?...plus the field was wet and he was slipping all over it, lets see what a dry field can do for him on sunday...remember this is only one game

These threads being created are just getting worse and worse by the week. I swear soon the mods just need to lock people from creating threads.

Not bashing Reggie. I'm saying his idea of being an every down back, and running between the tackles is not the way we need to use him. No doubt the guy has talent, and heart, but that only takes him so far. He needs to get the ball "in space". He can't run the ball 15/20 times a game out of the backfield behind this line. Why would you bring the guy here BECAUSE of what he showed with the saints, then not use him that same way.

I guess it would have been ok if this was another Henne, Ireland, or Sparano bashing thread.

No disrespect from myself intended. My thoughts during the game were "Bush isn't going to hold up
with this work load/pace." I was refering to the length of the season, not the game.
So I went looking at some power ranking sites to see if the Pats were still behind the Packers... Pretty much so.
This caught my eye tho.

New England Patriots: Ruthless opening performance by Brady and that Patriots offense. The defense gave up yards in the air, but controlled the running game (insert Reggie Bush jokes here).

Reggie played fine. The offensive coordinator has to get others involved. LJ should have seen the field in short yardage situations, as a lead blocker, as a decoy, and to get Reggie a chance to catch his breath. Offensive game plan sucked: throw to reggie, hand off to reggie, hit reggie out of the backfield, hit reggie on dumpoffs, etc. etc. Where were the other running backs????

the other RB's were either inactive, or on the bench. 'cuz Reggie was promised he would be "the man".

Reggie did fine. When he had space, he made some yardage.

I know this forum has turned into "what have you done for me last game." But, this is getting ridiculous...

why did we pass with a half of yard to go is beyond me. Also theres like only 2 types of passes henne can make. He cant throw a fade route for ****. very inconsistent passer with respect to his accuracy.

I don't get why many like to take a single snapshot, a single game in this case, then position it as absolute. Reggie Bush may not be able to run between the tackles and be an every down back. But this one game in no way proves that.

Did this one game suddenly prove that Chad Henne is the all-world QB we have been waiting for? Sheesh. How about being patient? Let's see how things play out over the first 4-5 games .. maybe even half the season before jumping to conclusions. While the doubters may be proven right, they haven't been proved right just yet.

As has been already stated, the o-line wasn't really helping out much. Also, not every defensive front has Vince Wilfork and Albert Haynesworth. What if Reggie Bush goes off against Houston, scores a couple TD's and rushes for over 100 yards? Will that prove that he is legit? Nope.

Let's see a body of work before we start stating absolutes.

he had 94 yards and a td...in a game that he "struggled"....as for henne, qb runs especially against a qb like henne are the result of man coverage on broken pass plays... shouldn't really be compared.

I think the coaching staff catered to his "I want to be the guy" thing too much last night. Use him outside, sweeps, reverses, etc., fine. It was proven last night the he is NOT and every down, between the tackles type of runner. He did some really good things last night, but pretty much disappeared for much of the last 3 quarters (production wise) last night. He actually does this offense no good stuck behind Henne at the snap. I also don't understand why LJ never saw the field last night. Do you mean to tell me that if Thomas wasn't hurt he would have been on the sidelines all game???

ONE ****ING GAME MAN, stop crying like a little *****

How the hell can this be the deciding factor of whether Bush can be a every down back or not? I'd like to see a RB have any success running through Ellis, Haynesworth, and Wilfork.
