So we consistently see comparisons from the the regime that is in control to the one that preceded but by comparrison of the last few; sparano, cameron, saban, wanny, johnson, what are your rankings or thoughts on what they did well/poorly in a perfect world and there plans came to fruition who had the best ideas, ect.....
cameron has got to be the worst of the crew, he was the worst gameplanner and actual playcaller. It was tempting to put the stash ahead, but his play calling and game time desicions directly lost games, his talent evaluations may have proven to work if he got as many chances as wanny (moving to a zone blocking scheme, ect.) but taking ginn so high lost all his credibility there, plus i think beck had a shot at being ok, but the way he was handled, especially at his age, ruined him. he needed to get enough time on the sidelines to learn everything once. Yeah Cam sucked hardest.
Wanny is second, and its not becase he did anything good, Cameron was just worse. He did so little with what he had, and coupling with such poor drafting, it ruined the team from top to bottom. I don't think that his instruction or direction was so terrible as he kept the team competative (granted he did have some amazing talent on defense, mainly hold overs from the johnson era.) His scemes were so plain, he lacked any ingenuity, it was amazing we werent worse than where we actually ended. BUt he did put himself into the team (not that it was worth having) and he did get us to the playoffs. Overall, it was his inablitly to evaluate talent well that made our team so weak overall, and for years to come.
Johnson wasn't nearly as poor as the two previously listed, I think his biggest problem as was that he just couldn't put enough of himself back into the game. He did build an awesome defense, and if he could have got a RB who knows, we mighta had something.
I know alot of you will argue with me putting Saban ahead of Johnson, but it's more about Saban revitalizing a worn team, he made the team competative, and got effort. I know he wasn't a fan or player favorite. But if he had stuck around he might've been able to get us rolling. (bare in mind, that I did not include is ****ty deparcher into the evail. as it wasn't directly indicative of his coaching.)
And the best of the crop is sparano, Im not going to get too envolved with this one, because we all know what a good job is being done hear; but just two key highlights: first his willingness to get talented people in the FO with him and allowing them to input in his system. He takes their opinions to heart and allows them to infuse into his over-all design. second- He is literally changing the way games are going to be won by integrating so much versatility into the players and gameplan- Im definatly on board with this guy....
