So we consistently see comparisons from the the regime that is in control to the one that preceded but by comparrison of the last few; sparano, cameron, saban, wanny, johnson, what are your rankings or thoughts on what they did well/poorly in a perfect world and there plans came to fruition who had the best ideas, ect.....

cameron has got to be the worst of the crew, he was the worst gameplanner and actual playcaller. It was tempting to put the stash ahead, but his play calling and game time desicions directly lost games, his talent evaluations may have proven to work if he got as many chances as wanny (moving to a zone blocking scheme, ect.) but taking ginn so high lost all his credibility there, plus i think beck had a shot at being ok, but the way he was handled, especially at his age, ruined him. he needed to get enough time on the sidelines to learn everything once. Yeah Cam sucked hardest.

Wanny is second, and its not becase he did anything good, Cameron was just worse. He did so little with what he had, and coupling with such poor drafting, it ruined the team from top to bottom. I don't think that his instruction or direction was so terrible as he kept the team competative (granted he did have some amazing talent on defense, mainly hold overs from the johnson era.) His scemes were so plain, he lacked any ingenuity, it was amazing we werent worse than where we actually ended. BUt he did put himself into the team (not that it was worth having) and he did get us to the playoffs. Overall, it was his inablitly to evaluate talent well that made our team so weak overall, and for years to come.

Johnson wasn't nearly as poor as the two previously listed, I think his biggest problem as was that he just couldn't put enough of himself back into the game. He did build an awesome defense, and if he could have got a RB who knows, we mighta had something.

I know alot of you will argue with me putting Saban ahead of Johnson, but it's more about Saban revitalizing a worn team, he made the team competative, and got effort. I know he wasn't a fan or player favorite. But if he had stuck around he might've been able to get us rolling. (bare in mind, that I did not include is ****ty deparcher into the evail. as it wasn't directly indicative of his coaching.)

And the best of the crop is sparano, Im not going to get too envolved with this one, because we all know what a good job is being done hear; but just two key highlights: first his willingness to get talented people in the FO with him and allowing them to input in his system. He takes their opinions to heart and allows them to infuse into his over-all design. second- He is literally changing the way games are going to be won by integrating so much versatility into the players and gameplan- Im definatly on board with this guy....

Sparano is definitely the best the best thing we've had in Miami in a very long time. I expect a down year this year but i'm very fortunate to have the kind of talent that we have on this team compared to where we are coming from. Within three years I fully expect us to be a NFL powerhouse under the wing of Sparano.

Sparano 11 wins and some respectability: Cameron 1 win and loads of humiliation...Comparison done

So far I like Sparano but I will not make a judegement after one season. After year one Saban was god also people just have short memories.

Saban was the only lowlife. That overrides everything, the scores and the draft picks, you name it. It was obvious long before he started flirting with Alabama. Every leaked story indicated he was a self absorbed little twerp who looked down on people who held non-football positions within the organization. I stopped posting here, and on other Dolphin sites, early in the '06 season because all I could feel was rage toward the guy coaching our team. I didn't care if the Dolphins existed. I've rooted for a half dozen or so teams for 40 years and it's the only time I've been embarrassed and disgusted by someone in a high position with the team.

Here's the twerp on display, a couple of weeks ago before the Alabama/FIU game. Typical Saban, scornful and insulting to the reporter, to the point he cuts off the interview session and walks off the stage. It's vintage Saban from about the 2:45 mark forward:

Parcells is not a beacon of integrity either. Negotiating a coaching job with the bucs while dungy was a coach and then leaving them at the alter after he changed his mind as well as quitting on his three previous teams.

yeah, Saban is a douche, but like i said from a strictly coaching standpoint, I'd rather have him than wanny or cameron. granted I'd need a huge guarantee that he'd be sticking around. something like one of his children.

Saban has a consistent track record as a douche, lying pipsqueak, and now quitter. It was his actionable decision to abandon ship when his coaching "legacy" began to tarnish. As a result, he is indelibly branded as a mediocre (15-17) pro level coach who left because he couldn't cut it in the big leagues or bully anyone who wasn't office staff or one of his lackeys. One only need check his picks and FO signings to determine he was as lackluster a GM as he was an NFL HC. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Hate to agree because I wanted him..., I still believe his wife made him pull out prematurely... His picks were sub par, Gore was a second round gem no offense to Ronnie - one day someone will give him a 300 touch season...

I'd have to say that Sporano is the best thing we've had in Miami since Shula, although he has not been here long at all. When I reflect on all of our previous regimes, I really feel for Huizenga. The man is a true Dolphin fan, always was, and did everything in his power to bring us to glory; but it never worked. Saban, JJ, even Wannstedt & ScamCam were guys that were considered top choices at the time. Just terrible luck to a man and a franchise who over the past 15-20 years have grown accustomed to disappointment. Hopefully the Trifecta turns out to be our saviors. The fans certainly deserve it and Huizenga deserves it as well.

ive always felt the Tuna was the right man for this job. he proved that he could turn it around by hiring the right people and getting the players to play winning football. now this season might not be the 11-5 season we had last year but if i see they are playing competitively unlike last game ill go on the record and say it was a successful year.

As far as a legit football run goes the fins have a long way to go.

Well said.

Isn't it sad that everything you said was true, and he was still far and away better than some of the other coaches we've had...

I dont know how you can put Saban above wanny.. Saban did nothing to make the team better and also sucked at drafting.. My rankings from worst to first..

Cam
Saban
Wanny
Johnson/Sparano (We still have to see how Sparano's second season as HC turns out to actually get a good picture of where he stands, although IMO he will turn out to be the best on the list)

well basically because wanny had several years to do something, and started with a decent team. what he did was fail to bring in any talent to support the core of the team, and let the team whither to an uninspired mess. Saban, while he wasn't with the team near long enough to do much, did bring a competitive edge back to the team, and if he stayed the half decade the stash was, I believe he could've brought enough people in to support his systems. plus he had better schemes offensively and defensively. again wanny was so plain and simple with his formations it was near impossible for opposing teams not to know what we were doing.
