Rivers is the best quick fix answer. He would have had two full years NFL experience under his belt. Yes, i'm aware he doesnt get game reps, but he does get practice reps, which count for something. I guarerntee that his back-up reps as a Charger are way more effective than Lienerts (impressive..quite possibly) reps against his college (COLLEGE) teammates. Plus, dont act like Rivers was suspect as a NCAA QB, he wasnt. Look at his stats. He can come in ab=nd start from day1 and be EFFECTIVE from day one. No college QB will come in and do that next year. Roefthlessburgler (misp on purpose..lol..funny to me ) is the exception to the rule. I doubt anyone will ever start a pro career at QB like that kid. He walked into a great team, with a great coach, and a system that eased him into the scheme..Slowly but surely, he has become a passing threat, and not a game management threat ditacted by Cowher. al the above, as always is purely.....IMO...goodnight..oh btw.....>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I UNDERSTAND your thinking......but you have to wonder what two years without playing at game speed will do to someone.....just wondering

Does the team mortgage it's future once more to bring in the supposed quick fix? I can't see SD letting him go for anything less than a high 1st. The only way to get him is to trade picks. Unfortunately, we've all seen what that can do to a franchise.

Rivers will be better IMO than anyone coming out this year. Your going to have alot of different opinions on the subject. Rivers would be cheaper and more ready than the prospects. However it would be more than a quick fix he is young and will have 5 years left on a contract and we wouldn't have to pay a signing bonus. It would be better for the future than drafting a chance qb in the draft.

Not trying to be a smarta** but what does never having a NFL practice, preseason or regular season game do to you? Rivers has gotten experience for two seasons while the college guys has been babied.

The thing that killed our franchise, is trading picks high picks for washed up veterans or for marginally talented players... Not trading for a player like Rivers...

I prefer going after david carr ...and then go after the best lineman possible ....carr is a sure thing , rivers is not . maybe the texans may need players that we can get rid off ......yes ....ricky may be one of them .

I think Matt Schaub might be a good option. He was a third round draft pick so we wouldn't have to give up as much for him as we would Rivers. With Vick getting injured as much as he does they might not want to give him up though.

You may have misundrstood my purpose of the thread. I'm not in search of a quick fix per se. Our defense is getting old right b4 our eyes, and our window is closing quickly. What I meant by "quick fix" is just that, but he would not only be a "quick fix", but a contributor that will contribute quickly, and efficiently. As well as hold up as a long term answer to our most desperate need. He wont be a bust. You cant possibly think Vince Young, or (lol) Marcus Vick, could step into Dolphin Satdium next year, and lead us to 10 wins. I believe Rivers may be able to do just that. That said, its all a GUESSING GAME. I hope Sage will reveal himself as the answer, but i doubt it, if he was, how could he have been hidden for so long. As for Ms. Cleo (lol, not a knock, just thought it was silly, to go along withthe theme of this post), its a wait and see, what can you do. He was a 3rd stringer, albeit, one of schottenheimers favorite (if you are to believe certain nffl website..cough NFL.com..cough)..Anyways, have fun bashing me. Remember though, I am a fin, and I love my brothers who love the fins.
PEACE

good one, forgot about schaub...what worries me, is that his numbers, and plays, come in an offense that set up to not make the QB (vick, not really a qb..imo, but ja cat that can run, and is a 2way weapon,,but thats for another thread.lol) make two quick looks, then let the ball fly. He is efficient, but how would he do, in say....mmmmmm..not a west coast offense scheme like ourselves?...btw, that wasnt a shot at vick, but i call it like i see it. Its a west coast, qb friendly, short pass type, timing style kinda extended run passing style..wheew....

How do you say Carr is a sure thing? If he was good we would'nt be talking about getting him in FA. Dan likes Phillip Rivers and you would think he knows a little more about qb's than we do.

I didn't mean it as an accusation I was just trying to be funny. Was it a typo?
