Relax.. its only preseason

ok its a throw away, but I thought we had to QB's out there that are supposed to be going for the starting job? What happened there? I didn't see the game myself but from reading the forums I get the sence that they were horrible.

Finally, another SANE person on this board. ohall also had a great post. Geez people are overreacting, Gus barely plays and Sage throws 2 meaningless TD passes in a completely meaningless game and all of a sudden he goes from 3rd on the depth chart to starter.

I can see him passing Feeley on the depth chart, but to call for this guy to be starting is clearly asinine.
 
Wasn't last week's game the only one we game planned for and watched flim of our opponent over? I understand, other teams do the same thing and they seem to be playing better than us. But, most other teams have also had their players in their system for a few years.. Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, Atlanta... most of those players have had some time to play with each other.. sure.. Atlanta's only in their second year with Mora, but they did make the playoff's last year.. we have new Olineman working together.. new qb's working with new WR's.. well in Gus' case anyways... last week, we game planned and watched film and studied.... and, our defense was smothering and Offense did enough, especially on the first drive... our other two drives in the first quarter would have been points if not for turnovers.. those things are correctable... we'll be ok... Nick Saban showed what a coach who breaks down another team can do if he's worth his salt when we shut down Tampa Bay... i'll give him time to make this team at the very least, competitive... preseason is what it is.. some teams play better than others and win.. doesn't make them better.. the year Dallas when 1-15 with JJ, they were 4-0 in preseason.. nuff said!

exactly what I was trying to argue this idiot with before on the game thread! He said we werent playing, so does that mean QBS are purposely throwing bad balls, so does that mean AJ is really God, but just sandbagging to surprise everyone. Receievers are dropping balls? He basically said we dont want to show Denver anything.......cmon!

your wrong Mike a reason....I wasnt worried about game plan...but i am worried about the Players...mainly the QB's. they could step up and make plays...and in the last game of the preseason they are supposed to be showing that they are starters....thats what the panic is over
 
Lets try to make this whole preseason debate really simple to understand...

#1 The final score doesnt matter
#2 Players stats doesnt matter
#3 Win Loss records doesnt matter
#4 Game plans doesnt matter
#5 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters... doesnt matter

What does matter is how the 1st team looks during the execution of the called plays..

#1 Can the 1st team offensive line open holes for what ever running back is in the play
#2 Can the 1st team offensive line pass block long enough for the play to develop
#3 Can the 1st and 2nd string running back find the open holes
#4 Can the receivers create separation
#5 Can the QB find the open receiver
#6 Can the 1st string offense move the ball and can they control the tempo of the game
#7 Can the 1st string defensive line plug the holes
#8 Are the starting linebackers in the proper position
#9 Are the starting DB's and Safetys where they are supposed to be

All my football watching life, I knew that the 1st half of the 1st quarter is the only meaningful part of the game.. 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters are soley for the purpose of evaluating depth of the back-up players and for allowing back-up players addition experience in the NFL

With all that said, the 1st team offense was almost in full force at the start of the game, Ronnie Brown started instead of Ricky and they went 3 and out in the 1st two series.. Some of this could be blamed on play calling.. but... the my major concern is the lack of execution.. In the 6 offensive plays, there was a -1 yard run, a stupid false start hurting 3rd down distance and 1 QB sack..

The 1st team defense was not up to full strength.. Zach was not in the line up, the d-line didnt block the holes and FS Jones looked lost out there..

The next concern is after Atlanta substituded 2nd string D-line players, our 1st O-line was still in the game and couldnt accomplish anything worth writing home about..

The individual play of Gus and Feeley means nothing when evaluating the overall strength of the offensive team.. It only goes to prove we need a good caliber starting QB.. However, by the QB being forced to dump the ball off (numerous times thru out the preseason) to the outlets for 5 yard only shows that Chamber and Booker cant get seperation..

Sage, Thompson, Ronnie Browns field goal and Holmes 35 yard catch and fumble was stricly for entertainment and should not be used to evaluate the strength of the starting team...

The bottom line is last week I felt good about the team, I saw hope and promise.. this week I saw a disaster and fear the upcoming season...

This whole preseason has been a very clever ploy to distract and mislead all the other NFL teams into thinking we're gonna suck this year.. But come next week, we're gonna open the playbook and showcase the real 2005 Miami Dolphins... watch out everybody else... 17-0 and Super Bowl champs!!!!

after the misery of the first half of last nights games, that is the only thing i can believe...by the way i will be there against the broncos!!! WOOT!:D

I think it's incredible that so many of you are still so optimistic. Why? It's easy to say that the preseason is meaningless when your starters on both sides of the ball are clearly playing terrible football.

I know it's no fun to watch your favorite team stink it up, but why deny the fact that this football team just won't be a good one this year? It's not hard to see that the fins are in a rebuilding mode.

Lying to yourselves isn't going to make the fins better.

A true fan loves there team and is optimistic about their team NO MATTER WHAT! I don't care if we don't win a game! I will still be optimistic! There is nothing better than watchin the Fins win but second best is watchin them lose and hopin for a great play. I'm depressed in the offseason so i'm just glad to see them play!

This from a Bills fan. Man some of you are just so dettached.

Let your franchise do something and then start with this kind of post. In short worry about your own franchise would you? God knows they have their own issues.
 
we looked horrible. Both teams approached it the game the same way. In the end.....we don't have our ---T together, our backups are horrendous and most of our starting line and QB couldn't find a job starting elsewhere. That's the truth. Am I optimistic? Yes. Does that mean I can find a million excuses for the poor play and us getting creamed by everyone during pre-season? No. If two people (teams) approach something in a similar fashion and one wins.....guess who's better? We need to "plan" to win? give me a break. No one was planning against us most of preseason either and we were embarrassed. The sky isn't falling but I'm not blind either. They say ignorance is bliss.....Vegas' 5 win season odds....that starting to look like a hard one to beat the Over on.
 
How can a team look so good for 1/2 a game against the Bucs play so poorly for 6 plays the following week?
