Relax On The Fisher Bashing.

oh thats right...you were in the aaron rodgers camp from the get go...i forgot...funny thing is though until i came on here and started talkin rodgers and finley up as the studs they were becoming during rodgers first full year as a starter there wasn't a peep on here about rodgers...heck no one was talking about him after he banged the cards in the postseason for some rediculous numbers...

anyways... i already have a hyundai...his name is matt moore...i'm looking for the hummer

You gotta Kia too!

The hell I would have..
he was my choice for athe 2nd pick and a preemptive top10 pick. He was actually drafted to be Favre's replacement not some camp fodder taken as an afterthought after Brian Brohm. And I know similarly that after 2 trips around town you'd take the Hyundai instead of the Bummer eh?

Aaron Rodgers was at the top of my list in that draft. No bull****. No effing clue how you can be employed in an NFL front office and have Alex Smith slotted ahead of Rodgers for the simple fact that it was said that Smith's hands were barely big enough to grip the football. What in the ****. Aside from that, Aaron Rodgers was just the better QB from a better program, against better competition in a better conference.

Absolutely disgusted me that Rodgers fell that far in the draft.

Also for the record, I had Brian Brohm ahead of Chad Henne. I was probably right there as well.

who was it on here who was tryin to tell me that rodgers was overrated when i was sayin last year he would probably lead the league in tds with all his weapons etc...hmmm....wv...i recall someone who talks a lot dropping that overrated line on me about that kid

Well Jon Gruden thought it was better to draft a Cadillac and roll with Chris Simms as his qb.

ok so cane and vaark were full steam ahead on rodgers in the draft...i wasn't here then so i should take you guys word on that...but take the whole its aaron rodgers and you liked him in the draft thing out of the equation and just look at as a young qb who got a game to play in which i seem to recall him getting run in a playoff game when favre got hurt and looking decent...not great not special...safe to assume had he been available in free agency the following year off that one game you would have turned your back on him as a potential dolphins addition as too risky etc???

i think that would be the case...hell cane i think you would have killed him for his mullet had he not been a guy you liked in the draft...

I was in love with Rodgers in college. Loved everything about him. I really don't even know what we're discussing here to be honest lol. I'm just pointing out that I wanted Aaron Rodgers, knew we wouldn't draft him that high, and I didn't really complain too much about the Ronnie Brown pick at the time because I rode the Saban Train hard.

Now going by what you say about going after Rodgers based on that playoff game when he looked ok, I can't say that I would have ran here and demanded we trade for him. That's one game. I can't make a suitable evaluation off of one game. I would have demanded Tom Brady if that were the case. I liked Rodgers simply because I watched a lot of him in college and I see a lot of Aaron Rodgers COLLEGE hype in Andrew Luck.

The bottom line is that anybody that was sold on Aaron Rodgers being a stone cold lock as a franchise quarterback coming out of Cal is full of it. Furthermore, I wouldn't want anybody that was sold on Rodgers coming out of Cal evaluating QB's for me because all that does is solidify the fact that they don't have a pine cone's worth of knowledge about quarterbacking mechanics, and how the position is played in the first place.

Aaron Rodgers had to sit for 3 years because his mechanics weren't sound coming from Tedford's system. He was passed up by teams because of these mechanical flaws. He wasn't even close to NFL ready when he left Cal. Tedford had churned out a long line of QB busts because they were allowed to be thrown into the fire with those exact same flaws. Rodgers was allowed to be re-wired from the ground up as he sat for 3 years behind Favre. NFL personnel people had grown to despise everything about how Tedford coached his QB's, and I pointed that out in this thread almost a month ago....

Not only that, but I ran across this article written almost a month later that backed up exactly what I said to begin with. Even the Packers weren't sold on Rodgers, and felt that he was closer to being cut than he was becoming an elite quarterback. He was absolutely terrible when they put him on the field until they could rework his mechanics...

One of you quarterback guru's tell ol' Slimm who the dead ringer "elite" quarterback is coming out of this draft, and why....

You can't honestly expect anyone to name someone other than Andrew Luck, right?

Exactly. Who isn't going to say Andrew Luck...

The point is, Luck isn't guaranteed to be an elite NFL quarterback either. What he is, is a helluva lot closer to being NFL ready from day 1 than Aaron Rodgers was coming out of Cal.

I want a name of the kid in this draft outside of Andrew Luck that is guranteed to be an elite caliber NFL quarterback in 3-5 years, and why. The same way Aaron Rodgers supposedly was...

You're not going to get it. Not even sure why you're asking. You can make cases and bring all the evidence you want on why Andrew Luck will be the real effing deal.

But as you said, there aren't any full-blown guarantees. No guarantees in life much less football drafts.

All you're looking to do is gather enough film, evidence, whatever, as to why you should run to the podium with some kid's name.

I seen enough of Aaron Rodgers to be willing to do that. I'm no NFL GM or scout. But I'm obviously not an idiot either. And I just couldn't figure out what it was about Alex Smith that had NFL GM's sold on him over Rodgers. But they were and that was fine. I could understand the Dolphins taking Ronnie Brown. I can tell you that I didn't want Braylon Edwards. But how Aaron Rodgers fell all the way to 24 was beyond me.
