Just a quick reminder to everyone that Atlanta was 11-5 last year and was a playoff team. They hung with the Cardinals in the playoffs on the road and lost in the last two minutes. Everyone acts as if we lost to the Lions for God's Sake. It was opening day in Atlanta and they were better prepared and out executed us. We got beat by one of the best teams in the league. There is not shame in that.

If we would have won that game it would have been an upset. Fans are freaking out because we didn't pull the upset? Let's give it a week or two an see what happens. I feel that this team is going to bounce back with a vengance on Monday night.:woot:

We took the 21st ranked D in the NFL last yr, that lost more pieces than they added and made them look top 5.....

Even Falcons fans I've talked to don't think their D is really that good.

Ill say it once, ill say it again...we started out last season 0-2, and won the division! theres alot of football to be played!

I'm not so disappointed in the loss, I'm disappointed about how our offense stunk it up out there. Yes, their defense played a lot better than expected but there is no excuse for some of those turnovers. People are freaking out because we could have won the game but blew it ourselves. This wasn't how the Ravens handled us last year or how the Pats whupped us in the 2nd game last year, this was our fault.

I believe the Dolphins were also 11-5...and made the playoff's...so what does losing the way the Dolphins did to the Falcons mean...the Falcons were ready to prove they were a playoff team and the Dolphins were sleeping at the wheel.

I don't like to lose...but to lose a close game leaves a far better taste in your mouth, than a blowout does.

The O-Line is the problem. The defense didn't blow it, IMO, because they had to make too many plays. It's way too soon to be panicky, even after a horrible loss.

I'm not mad because we lost to the Falcons, but rather pissed off at the way we played and even more pissed off because major weaknesses were exposed.

1) Sean Smith will get beat often this season (we cannot always count on a QB overthrowing or underthrowing receivers all the time)
2) Will Allen is overrated.
3) O-Line is average and so are Jake Grove and D. Thomas with all the hype.
4) Martin ability to go downfield will be missed greatly.
5) Pennington under pressure looks like a rookie
6) Safety play is bad mostly covering the TE

i agreet wit the first poster...falcons did play a good game but they only scored 19 pts...we didnt help ourselves by turnin the ball over 4 times that is the biggest reason why we lost this game

We played like a stinking pile of excrement regardless Atl's relative skill level. Can we turn it around like last year? Sure, although the OL, CBs, ST and QB all need to take a quantum step forward over the next 2-3 games at latest. Even then, if we make it into the POs, it's likely to be be "one and done" again.

Love CP, but he's got a consistently losing record against top 10 D's who routinely exploit his weaknesses. If it looks like he's taking us for a nice ride, well then I'm happy to jump on even if it ends sometimes in January sadness. HOWEVER, if by the 4th or 5th game we show no improvement, it's time for youth to be served. We'll need to have a reasonable grasp of what Henne can accomplish with a mediocre team sooner than later. If he's the X-factor, even if we're falling short of making the POs, at least we have something very positive to build on. If he's Beck-like, as he was in the 3rd exhibition game, then it's gotta either be White or back to the drafting well for a Flacco/Roethlisberger type QB that fits the style of team we're building.

1.) So Sean should have played like an all-pro from the first game on or he sucks. Give me a freaken break man. It was his first game PERIOD. There will be growth. Every CB gets beat, that is why they need a short term memory. Pat Surtain even said that his advice to Sean "was to take his lumps and move on".

2.) Will Allen played Ok

3.) I agree, but its the first game and they need to jell

4.) I agree

5.) Any QB that is under pressure alot will play like that. Look at we did to Brady in 2004. A 4-12 team picked him off 3 times, because he was getting hit.

6.) I agree

I'm not saying that Smith is a bust, actually he might be a very good corner in th near future.....But do we have the luxury of watching Smith give up a big play when our offense can't score more than 15 points a game.

The same way you guys can say if we did this.... Us atlanta falcons fans can say the same thing..The game was suppose to be a blowout to be honest.. We had some plays out there but the first game jitters got the best of Matt Ryan on those plays (TD type plays)... Matt Ryan normally make those plays......

You guys D had something to do with those missed oppitunity that Matt Ryan missed.... Phillip Merling was looking really good out there.

I always felt like our Defense was going to be better because we are a much faster Defense....We are young so mistakes will happen but i always felt like we could have a top 15 D

Like i said before... You guys have a good team (even tho some of you guys are kinda taking away from how good we are with your comments) .... Dont let 1 loss get you down... you guys have 15 more games to go

The Falcons are no slouches...neither are the Colts or Chargers...so....0-3????
