In a way it was better that we learned quickly about John Beck's shortcomings and that he was a likely bust straight away. In contrast, we wasted 4 years living in hope that Chad Henne could be our franchise QB. My learning from the Beck and Henne Draft picks is that you cannot get that time back.
Bill Parcells delegated the task of identifying the QB to draft to Ireland, Sparano and Henning. They looked at Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco and Chad Henne and their unanimous recommendation was Henne (and they figured that Chad would last til late in the 2nd round). Knowing what we now know, would you really entrust the three amigos for such an important task of selecting your franchise QB? Why am I not surprised that they unanimously selected the worst of the three? Triple fistpump Tony for all the field goal opportunities...
