Matt Flynn - QB - Seahawks

In a Saturday afternoon interview, Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin said it's hard to tell the distance between Matt Flynn and Tarvaris Jackson.

Reports on the quarterback competition in Seattle have been pretty volatile. Baldwin confirms that the situation is not clear-cut in favor of Flynn. It's a bad sign that Flynn hasn't emerged over the underwhelming Jackson, but he still figures to win the job after landing a three-year, $26 million contract.

between Flynn and JACKSON? Ouch! Lookin like we made a good move goin with Tannehill....

They might just get out of their mistake with Russel Wilson, I bet he ends up starting for the Hawks eventually.

To be fair the coach has said it's an open qb battle, and so the recievers can't go out talking to the media about which Quarterback they prefer. I'm not saying Im sold on Flynn, Im glad we didn't take him but it just needed to be said.

if this truly is a competition... there wouldn't be a winner in june. wake me up when there are pads

Flynn went for the money. If he had gotten good advice from his agent he would have signed with a team running the same WCO he had trained and played in for the last 4 years. Now he has to learn a completely different offense, makes perfect sense he would be struggling.

Actually Flynn said the Seahawks offense is very similar to GB.

As far as singing Flynn, really what would we have to lose? We have Moore vs. Garrard...it's not like passing on Flynn was a good move b/c we have a Brady or Rodgers on our team.

Didn't Philbin have a little to do with Flynn's development in GB???

Yes, which is why the Dolphins didn't view him as a franchise quarterback and only someone who would compete with Moore. Philbin knew him better than Seattle, which is why passing on Flynn was OK. If the guy who coached him every year didn't see anything special, why sign him to be the starter and the guy to build around? After Manning was out of the picture, it appears Tannehill was always the target as the franchise guy but they wanted a veteran to compete with Moore for the time being. Obviously the first choice was Flynn, but Garrard was next in line as the stop gap veteran competition. Philbin wanted Flynn because he was familiar for him, but knew he was never going to be the full time leader of the offense.

To build your team around someone, you have to be sold he is the guy. Tannehill they were sold on, not Flynn. That is very obvious.

That's that hurt. I'm so happy that Matt Flynn has been signed by the Seahawks.
